Berehove ( Ukrainian: Берегове; Russian: Береговое; Crimean Tatar: Kastropol from greek Kastròpolis, Καστρόπολις, "castle-city") is an urban-type settlement in the Yalta Municipality of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, a territory recognized by a majority of countries as part of Ukraine and annexed by Russia as the Republic of Crimea. Berehove is located on Crimea's southern shore at an elevation of 77 metres (253 ft). [2] The settlement is located 10.5 km (6.5 mi) west from Simeiz, which it is administratively subordinate to. [3] Its population was 478 in the 2001 Ukrainian census. [3] Current population: 374 ( 2014 Census). [4]
