The Red Wings scored the most power-play goals in the NHL during the regular season, with 85. [1]
On April 1, 2001, Steve Yzerman scored just 11 seconds into the overtime period to give the Wings a 2β1 home win over the Washington Capitals. [2] It would prove to be the fastest overtime goal scored during the 2000β01 regular season. [3]

Brendan Shanahan, playing his 1,000th career game
The New York Rangers traded their second round draft pick (38th overall) to the Detroit Red Wings for the 64th overall (Czech defenseman, Filip Novak) and 95th overall (Harvard center, Dominic Moore), in Saturday's NHL Entry Draft.
Nashville opened the second day of the draft by trading its fourth-round selection (101st overall) to Detroit for a third-round selection in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Hnidy was originally acquired in a trade from Detroit for Ottawa's eighth-round pick in the 2000 draft on June 25, 2000.
The club made one final transaction, taking Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL) defenseman Louis Mandeville with the 292nd pick acquired from Detroit for a ninth round pick in 2002.
BLUE JACKETS: Right wing Kent McDonell was acquired from Detroit for a sixth-round pick in the 2003 draft.

Detroit Red Wings agreed to terms with goaltender Jason Elliott and forward B.J. Young on two-year contracts and forward Toivo Suursoo on a one-year contract.

The New York Rangers traded their second round draft pick (38th overall) to the Detroit Red Wings for the 64th overall (Czech defenseman, Filip Novak) and 95th overall (Harvard center, Dominic Moore), in Saturday's NHL Entry Draft.
Nashville opened the second day of the draft by trading its fourth-round selection (101st overall) to Detroit for a third-round selection in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Hnidy was originally acquired in a trade from Detroit for Ottawa's eighth-round pick in the 2000 draft on June 25, 2000.
The club made one final transaction, taking Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL) defenseman Louis Mandeville with the 292nd pick acquired from Detroit for a ninth round pick in 2002.
BLUE JACKETS: Right wing Kent McDonell was acquired from Detroit for a sixth-round pick in the 2003 draft.
