Woh To Hai Albelaa ( transl. She is indeed very unique) is an Indian Hindi-language television drama series that aired from 14 March 2022 to 14 June 2023 ^[1] on Star Bharat and is digitally available on Disney+ Hotstar. Produced by Rajan Shahi under Director Kut's Productions, it starred Shaheer Sheikh and Hiba Nawab in the lead roles. ^[2] It's an official adaptation of Star Vijay's Tamil series Eeramana Rojave. ^{[3] [4]}

Plot

Balwant Sharma and Dhanraj Choudhary are neighbors, and best friends like their wives, Indrani and Saroj. But, due to a fight between their children Krishna and Sayuri, Saroj become enemies, with the Sharma family. Saroj thinks Balwant used Dhanraj only for his business. Balwant denies so and asks what Saroj wants. She demands half of his business, due to, which Indrani and Saroj get, into a confrontation. Indrani slaps and insults Saroj. Balwant later dies, due to his deteriorating health.

18 years later

Saroj is not able to accept Indrani and her family members, and hates them for the insult. Sharma's eldest daughter, Sayuri is a professor and she hates Krishna (Kanha) because she holds him responsible for all the hatred between the two families. Sayuri and Choudhary's eldest son, Chiranjeev (Chiru) love each other and wants to get married. They convince their family members, especially Saroj. The wedding preparations start, but unfortunately, Chiru meets, with an accident and dies on the day of his wedding. Saroj wrongfully blames both Sayuri and Kanha for Chiru's death. Meanwhile, Kanha marries Sayuri in order to fulfill the promise that, he made to Chiru.

Both Kanha and Sayuri are unable to accept each other, and Saroj does not accept Sayuri as her daughter-in-law. Kanha's former love, Anjali tries to create problems between Kanha and Sayuri because she wants to marry him. Kanha and Sayuri become friends, and they start to admire each other and later they realize their love for each other. Saroj is still not able to accept Sayuri. Sayuri later reveals her pregnancy, after, which Saroj finally accepts Sayuri as her daughter-in-law.

Kanha's younger brother, Nakul and Sayuri's younger sister, Rashmi confess their love for each other. Saroj accepts the proposal, after, which Nakul and Rashmi get engaged. Rashmi starts feeling insecure and jealous about Sayuri's position in the household, and starts hating her sister for no clear reason at all, simply, due to jealousy, as Rashmi, allows her jealousy to consume her, resulting in Rashmi becoming arrogant, childish, delusional, egotistical, immature, insolent, ill-mannered, stubborn and unreasonable.

Saroj accepts the marriage proposal to Rishi for Kusum, but Rishi tortures and abuses her. After Sayuri and Kanha find out the truth, they sent Rishi to jail. Rishi escapes from the jail, kidnaps Kusum and he tries to kill as revenge for humiliation. But Sayuri goes to save Kusum from Rishi.

But unfortunately, Sayuri suffers a miscarriage while trying to save Kusum from Rishi. Kanha, who is enraged at Rishi for dare attacking his wife, Sayuri and for trying to kill his half-sister, Kusum, he beats Rishi to a bloody pulp, but he accidentally kills him the process, Rishi's parents arrogantly press murder charges against Kanha in a failed attempt to cover up their son's misdeeds, but unfortunately, this completely backfires on them, due to the fact that, the court had reviewed all the evidence that, was against Rishi, regarding all the crimes that, he had committed against the Choudhary family, particularly against Kusum. Therefore; Kanha is found innocent, as it was self-defense.

Sayuri's friend, Yash and Kusum fall in love with each other. Later, Yash, Kusum, Nakul and Rashmi get married. Rashmi reveals to Sayuri that, she can't bear a baby, in order to create problems between Kanha and Sayuri, but unfortunately, this completely backfires on her, as Sayuri realises what Rashmi's intentions were and exposes her misdeed in front of both families. Nakul was about to end his marriage with Rashmi, but Kanha and Sayuri convince him to give his relationship one last chance, which he reluctantly does, due to Nakul's respect for his brother and sister-in-law, but he warns Rashmi that, if she ever misbehaves, with any member of his family, particularly, with his brother, Kanha and his sister-in-law, Sayuri or does anything bad even once, he will end their relationship for good.

Kanha, Nakul, Sayuri and everyone else have finally lost their patience, with Rashmi's antics, as Sayuri warns Rashmi that, the next time that, she misbehaves or does anything bad, it will not be tolerated and she will throw her out of the Choudhary house for good, as well as the fact that, Sayuri will not save Rashmi's relationship, with Nakul the next time that, she screws up very badly.

But Rashmi delusionally blames both Kanha and Sayuri for all of the problems in her life, but in truth, she actually responsible for her own life becoming miserable, due to her misdeeds.

After which, Rashmi goes completely insane, as she decides to get rid of Sayuri. When Kanha, Kusum, Nakul, Rashmi, Sayuri and Yash go for their family deity worship, Rashmi pushes Sayuri off the cliff and she apparently falls to her death.

1 year later

After 1 year, Rashmi has several nightmares, due to the incident, as she is terrified of what will happen if everyone finds out that, Sayuri's apparent death wasn't an accident, but she does not have any genuine guilt, shame and remorse for what she had done to her sister, Rashmi has also given birth to her and Nakul's son, Arjun. Kanha is still not able to accept Sayuri's death, as he correctly believes that, she is still alive, due to the fact that, her body was never found, but his relationship, with Nakul has also suffered in the process, due to his unwillingness to accept Sayuri's death.

On Kanha's way, he meets with an accident, after which Dr. Vikrant saves him. He sees Vikrant's wife Sanchi, who is Sayuri's look-alike with their daughter, Komal aka Kuku. He assumes Saachi to be Sayuri and gets delighted. Saachi is in fact Sayuri and she doesn't tell Kanha the truth because her and Kahna's daughter are with Vikrant. Vikrant blackmails Sayuri that if she says anything to Kanha he will harm her daughter. Meanwhile, Kanha decides to find the truth and bring Sayuri back home. Rashmi is shocked to learn that Sayuri is alive.

Kanha meets Mittu with Yash's help and later, suspects the truth. Sayuri finds the real Saachi's dead body in the storeroom and realises that, she was killed by Vikrant. Sayuri and Kanha meet and strategise against Vikrant.

Going by their plan, Sayuri pretends to be in love with Vikrant and asks him bring both Mittu and Kuku to attend their wedding. When Rashmi thinks they would succeed, she makes Vikrant realise that, Sayuri was fooling him by telling Sayuri in front of him that Kanha was bringing help. Vikrant runs off with Sayuri and Rashmi goes to throw away Mittu, but she crosses paths with Indrani and Nakul. Indrani and Nakul had realised that Sayuri was alive and Kanha knew this. Kanha arrives then saying Mittu was his daughter from Sayuri.

Vikrant hides with Sayuri and Kanha keeps searching for her. Faiba and Kuku arrive at his doorstep and he takes care of Kuku. With Kuku's help, he finds Vikrant and Sayuri, but Vikrant takes her away at gunpoint. During the chase, Vikrant and Sayuri's car crashes. Just before the car blasts, Kanha saves Sayuri and Vikrant dies.

Sayuri has nightmares after returning to the Choudhary house and taking advantage of this, Saroj hires Ravi, a mask seller to make Sayuri believe that she was mad. Saroj believes that, Mittu is not Kanha's daughter and wanted Sayuri out of their lives. But Kanha suspects that, someone was scaring Sayuri and catches Ravi. Ravi paints Rashmi as the mastermind and Rashmi is sent to jail after Sayuri reveals that, Rashmi had tried to kill her, by pushing her off the cliff. Saroj had overheard a conversation between Rashmi and Sayuri, and had realised that, Sayuri would mistrust Rashmi if she was framed. Nakul becomes a recluse after hearing about his wife's misdeeds. He also feels disgusted over the fact that, he had falling in love, with Rashmi, as well as for failing to realize her true colors.

Sayuri brings DNA reports, provin that, Mittu is Kanha's daughter.

Sayuri and Kanha meet Chamanbahar in the jungle and bring her home. They didn't realise that, it was her plan to enter their home all along. Chaman is given work as a servant, but she soon seizes the house.

Kanha meets, with an accident and to save him, Sayuri has to strike a deal, with Chaman. Chaman asks Sayuri to sign divorce papers and with no way out, Sayuri signs them. Kanha and the family begins strategizing again. They take help from Ammu, and succeed in getting Chaman and Tingu arrested. Rashmi's involvement is also revealed behind the whole game and she gets arrested. Nakul and Ammu get married, and the series ends on a good note.

Production

Development

The series is produced by Rajan Shahi under the Director Kut's Productions. Woh Toh Hai Albelaa officially started with a puja on the sets. ^{[5] [6]}

For a song sequence, Kanha, portrayed by Sheikh recreated Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. ^[7]

Casting

Shaheer Sheikh was cast to portray the lead, Krishna. ^[8] It marks his second collaboration with Rajan Shahi post Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke. He said, "I am very happy to work with Rajan Shahi sir once again. Krishna's character is very cool, allowing me to explore Shaheer Sheikh in reel life too and add my own interpretations to the character." ^[9] Hiba Nawab was cast as Sayuri, opposite Sheikh. It is her second collaboration with Rajan Shahi after Tere Sheher Mein. ^{[10] [11]}

Kinshuk Vaidya and Rachi Sharma were cast as Krishna's brother Nakul and Sayuri's sister Rashmi respectively. It marks Sharma's acting debut. ^{[12] [13]} Anuj Sachdeva was cast as the eldest brother, Chiru. His role ended in May 2022. ^[14] Suruchi Adarkar was cast as the eldest sister Kusum, marking her Hindi TV debut. ^[15]

In December 2022, Dharti Bhatt replaced Rachi Sharma as Rashmi Sharma Choudhary, who left the show as she did not wanted to play a mother onscreen. ^[16]

Filming

The series is set in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. It is mainly shot at the Film City, Mumbai. Some initial sequences, including a song were shot at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. ^{[17] [18]}

Release

The series promos were released in February 2022. ^{[19] [20]} Woh Toh Hai Albelaa premiered on 14 March 2022 on Star Bharat. ^[21]

Soundtrack

Woh Toh Hai Albelaa soundtrack is composed by Nakash Aziz and Sargam Jassu. The first song "Woh Toh Hai Albelaa" is inspired from 1994 film Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa's song of the same name. It is the theme song of Kanha. The second song "Ho Rabba" is the theme song of Kanha and Sayuri.
