StandardsDirect.org

I've been struggling with this one for quite a while because he is more sophisticated than any other spammer I've seen. StandardsDirect provides information security standards that you can purchase on the internet and download. Links have been created for StandardsDirect on the following Wikipedia pages: ISO 27001, ISO 10006, BS 25999, BS 7799, ISO/IEC 20000, ISO/IEC 27000-series and Business continuity planning. So every time someone looks for information on these standards in Wikipedia, they see a link to StandardsDirect. Now StandardsDirect is one standards reseller among hundreds. But every time someone takes any of these links out, someone comes within hours (not days - HOURS) to reinstate the links. And those who come to reinstate the StandardsDirect links almost always have different IP addresses and most of them are one-time Wikipedia contributors whose only contribution is to appear out of nowhere, reinstate the StandardsDirect link and disappear, never to contribute again. Either I'm REALLY paranoid, or someone monitors these links and changes IP address to reinstate the StandardsDirect links to avoid detection.

In the case of ISO 27001, this person has been constantly making sure that standardsdirect.org, 17799.com and iso-17799.safemode.org (by the way, someone is maintaining the iso-17799.safemode.org link on the following Wikipedia pages: ISO/IEC 27000-series, ISO 27002, Business continuity planning, ISO 27001, BS 7799, Vega Group plc, Security controls and Cyber security standards) links stay there and that 1) each time they are erased they are reinstated rapidly and 2) that any competing link put on the page be eliminated. And this is been happening since 2006!!! Am I crazy or someone is actually making huge efforts to use Wikipedia to promote his/her company??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Veridion ( talkcontribs) 21:24, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

That certainly sounds like linkspamming and promotion against our policies. I don't know much about purchasing these standards, or these sites, but I assume you are right that these are one among hundreds. It's possible what is going on is an entire group of people associated with the link or links in question have been making sure the links get reinstated quickly. Good catch if that's the case, since different accounts/IPs make this harder to spot. But can you point to some diffs on each of the articles? On my first look through (admittedly not deep) I didn't see the diffs adding these links. And of course if it continues it can be blacklisted. - Taxman Talk 01:27, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

I have removed the standardsdirect.org links, leaving notes on the associated article talk pages that "established, high-volume editors" are free to add them back if they feel they're really necessary.
I'm not sure the other two domains are problematic. For now, I suggest discussing them on the talk pages for the various associated articles. -- A. B. ( talkcontribs) 01:39, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

I've listed here all the times the standardsdirect.org site was taken off Wikipedia (ISO 27001 only) and reinserted (differences) for 2006 and 2007 (I got tired after mid-2007). This clearly shows that each time someone relaced the standardsdirect.org, somebody came quickly to reinstert it. I think this clearly shows it was commercial spamming.

I will list standardsdirect.org with XLinkBot; established editors will be able to add it, however it will revert IPs.

I am from Standards Direct, and I have been watching this unfold since I was alerted to it last week. I wish to make something clear: we do not engage in such smutty activity as spamming Wikipedia.

Further, someone, seems to be seeking to inflict reputational damage here. Look at the last mass addition of links to our property by 72.255.83.2. Do you imagine that is us? No reputable business would act like that.

More than this: we have no need to desire to be listed or mentioned in Wikipedia at all. All it is doing at this point is providing a route for some sort of squalid attack on our reputation. As such, could I suggest that you block our domain somehow? We don't see Wikipedia as any sort of commercial channel, but it shouldn't be a route for presumably a competitor to attempt to darken our reputation either. Please block any future additions to our site, if this is possible.

Feel free to contact us through our website for validation of this genuine request. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.88.199.1 ( talk) 20:49, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

I listed these domains with XLinkBot, which reverts any additions of these links by anonymous IPs or brand-new editors. Today, this American IP added your links back, but XLinkBot did not revert the additions. I have left a query at User talk:XLinkBot/RevertList#not reverting standardsdirect.org?; hopefully, this will be resolved. The alternative is to blacklist it, but I would prefer not to if XLinkBot can be induced to work on it. -- A. B. ( talkcontribs) 21:52, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

On 17 October I noted a new anon user User:80.42.129.50 place links to Colne Valley Web - Community Website on six different articles on my watchlistSee the Users Contributions. After checking the website out I concluded it was new'ish, with less than 1600 hits, and contained banner ads, plus a header link to invite businesses to advertise with them; See the Advertising details page link. Subsequently I presumed this to be a spam link, with the intention of getting hits on their website and I deleted them with a message to the users Talk page. The link was replaced on one article, by use of a different IP address. Again I removed that. However I now have some comeback on my Talk Page, from another IP address, which I assume is from the same user on dynamic IP, disputing it is an advertising website, plus a supporting message from another 'limited contributions' editor, which may even by the same anon users login username. Could someone be kind enough to take a look and decide if or not the website is allowed? Richard Harvey ( talk) 15:51, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

In my opinion, you are correct in removing the links per WP:ELNO and WP:NOT#REPOSITORY. It's a WordPress website (blog publishing site) with limited to no editorial oversight and no established notability. The links were clearly added to promote the website, and function only as a community forum/networking site. --- Barek ( talkcontribs) - 16:09, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

The presence of ads is not in itself disqualifying; we link to many newspapers and periodicals with ads on their sites. Barek points out clearly the real problems. If any more links get added, warn the user adding them. After 3 or 4 total warnings, we'd normally blacklist this site. Here are some related domains:
There are probably some more we can check out if the link additions continue.

The 24 Wikia is spam?

Could someone take a moment to explain why linking to a Wikia wiki is considered spam? My login appears at Wikipedia:WikiProject Spam/LinkReports/24.wikia.com but I cannot comprehend why adding links to a Wikia Wiki is considered to be spam. Has everyone forgotten that Jimbo was a co-founder of Wikia? Blue Danube ( talk) 16:37, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm not saying that it's spam, but Wikia links should be subject to the same policies as other external links. Whether Jimbo founded it is irrelevant, since it's the Wikimedia Foundation that's actually in control. -- NE2 18:08, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
I strongly disagree that Jimbo's involvement in Wikia is irrelevant. Jimbo is the father of WP, especially with regards to its philosophy and spirit. But I'm still confused. Was the bot correct to single out the Wikia wiki? Have I violated some component of policy by linking there? Also, is it wrong to link to another wiki on a user's sub page? These are genuine questions, I'm not being aggressive here. Blue Danube ( talk) 18:17, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Hi Blue Danube. The bot isn't singling out Wikia pages particularly. And the presence of the report or an individual addition on a report is not a declaration that the link or addition is considered spam. COIBot is monitoring the 24.wikia.com link because it was triggered by one of the several methods that cause a link (any link) to be followed. In this case I think it was because the url had previously been reported to WikiProject Spam (for some reason I can't get the archive pages to load at the moment to double check - but links towards the top of the report indicate that is the reason).
Many links that are reported are added by legitimate editors for legitimate reasons - the reports merely make it easy for a human editor to follow up on links that have previously been problematic so they can quickly check whether new additions are legitimate or not. For instance in the case of a link that has legitimate uses but has nevertheless been spammed in the past - monitoring means, among other, things that should future editing patterns show another bout of spamming we have a quick reference to help distinguish the good links from the ones that are spammed and we can rule out some as spam based on who is adding and where they are being added - i.e. we can easily ignore your additions to user pages. -- SiobhanHansa 19:29, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Per the external links guideline, wikis are often inappropriate external links. Moreover, whether a link is to a good, established website with completely free information, to a commercial site, to a site of a government, or whereever, that does not matter. If there are people who get, in one way or another, money from hits on their website (or people visiting it), or for other promotional reasons, and they add those links merely for that reason, then that is defined as spamming (and if Jimbo Wales himself would add a link to a wikia site somewhere that could even fall under our conflict of interest guideline (which does not forbid the actions, though, but asks to be cautious at the least!)). Wikia sites can just as easy be spammed as other sites, and as it is a wiki links there may even be simply inappropriate. That is why we monitor it (there is a list of Wikia and other wikis somewhere in a post months/years ago about this site).
As SiobhanHansa says, those reports help us in deciding what we can/should do. If there are legitimate additions then we can't blacklist (but User:XLinkBot may be the solution. If the spamming is for now only done by IPs, but there is not much legitimate use, than we can consider adding it to User:XLinkBot for the moment, and see if the IP's get the message that the links are in this way not wanted (and we can step up to the blacklist later). If there is one account spamming, but a lot of legitimate use, then we simply block the single account. As such, appearance of regular editors in those reports (who are not performing a vandalism revert ..) help us in evaluating link use and our actions. -- Dirk Beetstra T C 11:47, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

User Amake spamming translation memory page

The user Amake ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Amake) is repeatedly spamming the translation memory page ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Translation_memory) by replacing one section with another. The items in question are OmegaT+ and OmegaT.

The OmegaT+ item, that was in place, was replaced by the user because they believed that OmegaT is more popular. OmegaT+ and OmegaT are different, albeit similar, open source projects. Each can have a place on the page. Messages were left on the users talk page explaining that removal and replacement constitutes a type of spam. A warning was given that they would be reported and they were advised to just add in the other entry, not replace the existing one. Nonetheless, the user insists on replacing the entry, thus showing a real bias towards OmegaT instead of just supplying more information for the benefit of other users. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.252.88.10 ( talk) 13:59, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Site

Site doesn't really meet our WP:EL guidelines for wikis (doesn't have many editors) and as an open wiki isn't appropriate as a source.

The spamming was all before Beetstra's last conversation with JayFang so I don't think we need to ratchet things up particularly at the moment except - it's a mediawiki site and has been interwiki spammed as :chinatravelguide (see 125.76.167.24) - anyone know a good way to find these? -- SiobhanHansa 01:31, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't think mere mortals can find those interwiki links since, to my knowledge (I've asked before), there's nothing like Special:LinkSearch that catches interwiki links. Perhaps someone can develop a specialized bot. In any event, :chinatravelguide links should stop working [3] [4] once the interwiki database is next updated from the list at meta:Interwiki map.-- A. Hi, A. B., thanks for your time looking into this. While I don't exactly understand what you meant and didn't exactly go thru all the links you listed, my understanding is that you were including a (complete?) list of IPs that mentioned ChinaTravelGuide on wp. As you see on my wp user page, I live in Los Angeles area. You can also see my contributions here. Like wp, ChinaTravelGuide's policy is not to tolerate any forms of spams (we are a spam victim). As a professional with high integrity, and an occasional contributor to wp, I would never spam any sites. In my earlier post, I mentioned I did a complete search of ChinaTravelGuide links on wp, I found about 30 links (ChinaTravelGuide has about 26,000 pages), but I feel they are relevant and suitable links. I hope you were not treating all the links as spams. JayFang ( talk) 07:04, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
The main factor that makes the majority of the accounts listed look like spammers is that they have edited almost exclusively to add links to external sites. A few that also added other content are considered likely connected because of their geographic closeness and other editing similarities. Also just to clear up definitions here: you say Chinatravelguide does not engage in spamming, but you yourself have added these links and given your connection with the site that fits Wikipedia's definition of spamming. I appreciate you may not have realized this and that there doesn't appear to have been any recurrence since Beetstra's conversation with you over the summer, but the evidence we have definitely shows inappropriate additions. -- SiobhanHansa 15:23, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
If you look through the discussions I linked to above, you'll see that there were multiple discussions and warnings about these links along with links to our relevant guidelines prior to JayFang's July conversation with Beetstra. Multiple Wikipedia editors explained the problem to no avail. Of the 46 link additions in our report, I see only 3 made by established, high volume editors. I lack confidence that this domain will not be spammed in the future. -- A. B. ( talkcontribs) 15:56, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
I am confident that JayFang will not perform inappropriate link additions, and there may be some cases where the link would be of interest. BUT, editors of external wikis often create pages (or edit them extensively) on the external wiki, and then link it from here (and I am afraid that that happens with many wikis, either via conventional external links, or via the interwiki mapping). External wikis often have different rules about advertising, content etc., and when wikis with such less stringent rules get linked from here, then that certainly works promotional for involved people. If that happens (and the site administrators of the external wikis can't do much about that), then I guess the only solution is to blacklist the external wiki (and remove interwiki mapping where necessery). I think that our conflict of interest guideline here does cover this 'spamming' as well (editors on both ends editing 'the same page'; it does not have to be the site administrator) ... I am sorry that chinatravelguide has this problem, but for now this is the only solution. And blacklisting does not have to be permanent.
I could make the linkwatchers catch interwiki additions, templates etc. as well. It is giving them more work (and it would give on-IRC problems), so it should only be done for specific cases (not too general rules, but e.g. '\[\[:chinatravelguide:.*?\]\]' could do it). I don't know yet what effect it will have on the rest of the system (the link with COIBot, e.g.), but for extreme cases we might want to consider that. -- Dirk Beetstra T C 16:27, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
1) Hi, SiobhanHansa, A. B. and Dirk, regarding IPs 209.159.64.4 and 63.166.226.83, there are thousands of people behind these 2 IPs. I already explained in my earlier conversation with Dirk at here. There are partners, friends, and other people in my circle (and myself sometimes) are behind these IPs. Countrywide is a huge business in local area.
2) Regarding geographic closeness, our site name is on local publications, and we have many local people in my and other partners' circle who often visit the site (Not to mention there is a huge local Chinese community in Los Angeles area). So I don't think this is unusual.
3) Many pages on our site have links to wikipedia page. People add wp links on our site, and sometimes add our links on wp. Again, I don't feel exactly unusual.
4) Regarding my edits on wp, most of my link-related fixes have nothing to do ChinaTravelGuide. I may have a few edits related to ChinaTravelGuide, but it should be rare, or happened long time ago, or truly useful and helpful links (we have real time weather, e-maps, personal reviews, etc. which is not suitable on wp, but complemental to wp). I think it's natural for people knowledgeable on China Travel to add content on our site and then on wp (or vice versa). I don't feel it's fair to treat these people as spammers. It's reasonable to say that they are contributors.
5) Regarding specific action I wanted to see taken as SiobhanHansa asked here, I think it's fair to keep ChinaTravelGuide on the interwiki map, but continue to monitor any possible violations thru COIBot or its variations (I'm willing to work with Dirk to come up with a bot to track interwiki spams. I think it should be easy (a pattern match to interwiki syntax and a cross-ref to interwiki map?) to modify COIBot to track interwiki links). From bottom of my heart, I know I and the people I know here did not spam (per my definition) wp, and it won't be fair to take ChinaTravelGuide off the interwiki. Thank you all for your time to reconsider the decision. JayFang ( talk) 18:46, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Replies:
Re 1) Well, if the majority of the edits by those two IPs are similar, and are all involved in adding chinatravelguide.com in one way or another, then I don't believe it are thousands of people, I would even suspect that only one or two persons (or a small group of people) use those two IPs.
Re 2) That the two are geographically close may suggest that they are actually only one, or that they are working together, but indeed, it is not proof of that. It may be two individual spammers .. Maybe a checkuser could help us out here to see who use those IPs?
Re 3) That chinatravelguide has links to us is not a reason to link to chinatravelguide. As I explained above, if your policies and guidelines encourage linking to wikis, then that is fine, here we do not encourage that (per the external links guideline), and we do seem to have a spam problem of chinatravelguide at this end.
Re 4) I feel confident that you are not dding too many links anymore, and you know the situation (we discussed it before). However, adding links != adding content. Editors who edit on chinatravelguide (with its own policies and guidelines, and information), and then add only links to the pages they create there on this wiki, are in violation of our conflict of interest guideline and our spam guideline (not to mention WP:NOT#REPOSITORY and WP:NOT#DIRECTORY). If your wiki satisfies our reliable sources guideline, they could be adding content here and referencing it. But as it is a wiki, I don't think that goes. As such that is not unfair, our policies and guidelines are not the same as chinatravelguide.com's policies and guidelines, and if they don't match, then we have to see how things are on both sides.
Re 5) Monitoring interwikis is at the moment outside of the scope of the bots, and would result in too much overload I am afraid. There simply is abuse, so we remove the interwiki, and monitor the use via old fashioned normal external links. Lets see if established editors here use the link to any great extend, or that it is only used by IPs and relatively new accounts. -- Dirk Beetstra T C 12:08, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Ok, Dirk, we can argue on and on without an end. If everybody thinks chinatravelguide's links are spams, not helpful, and not complemental to related wp pages, just take them off wp and interwiki map.

As for monitoring interwikis, the overload should not be more than monitoring regular links. I don't know your concerns about possible findings, though that's none of my business, and maybe out of scope as you said. JayFang ( talk) 02:48, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

dvdbeaver.com

When recently cleaning out the spam from noiroftheweek dot com, I saw many of the film articles containing links that constitute spam to dvdbeaver.com. As of now, over 240 articles on Wikipedia link to the website!

I took a look at ten articles at random and the editors who added the link all seemed to be fairly prolific editors who made a lot of film/music/popular culture related edits including links to several different review sites. So on first and brief inspection I would say it doesn't look like spam. -- SiobhanHansa 12:38, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

This SPA appears to have a close connection to a company called Charter Drive. The Charter Drive article has been been speedy deleted twice and thinly disguised spam was deleted by AfD (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Outsourced car pool service). Several times the user has added (now reverted) promotional material and external links about the company to Carsharing [7] [8] [9] [10] even after being warned about COI. User:Flashbaxx has been adding links for the above site. I have tried reverting the A&R article and placing a warning on his talk page - which he keeps blanking. And I might add, for completeness, he has now listed A&R for page protection because of my "vandalism," which I consider to be removing spamlinks!, Some of the articles he has added the links including in text external links include : Alex William, BC Jean, If I Were a Boy, Iglu & Hartly, Hey Monday, Lights (singer), Record industry, Camera Can't Lie, Paper Route (band), American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Walter Yetnikoff, Family Tree Entertainment, Mercury Lounge, Bowery Ballroom, Bertis Downs, IV, Rob Cavallo

Anon users which appear to be adding the same or similar wording include 69.86.103.199 and 84.175.230.250 -- Richhoncho ( talk) 21:25, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

terryananny.com

This has been an issue for several months and involves a number of editors. This artist has been spamming Wikipedia since the article she wrote about herself was deleted and eventually salted (as it was constantly reposted). She attempted to create articles as Ananny, TERRY ANANNY, Terry ananny, plus a few other variations. A number of socks have been banned starting with Ananny. She attempted to post the article on a number of talk pages and then moved to international wikis and Wikiversity, Simple Wiki and so on. Once these avenues were blocked (and she has been removed from all the Wikis that I'm familiar with), she's been regularly spamming articles with her website, under different IP addresses. In shortm, she's been a nuisance. The articles most targeted are List of contemporary artists, List of Canadian painters, List of Canadian artists, List of contemporary artists and List of people from Ottawa, amongst others at different times. The talk page for the most recent IP User talk:76.64.156.41 which gives you an idea of what's been going on. If you look at the histories of any of these articles (and as well the various sockpuppets of Ananny) you'll see how much effort has been wasted by a significant number of editors over the past year (the article on Ananny itself has been created/recreated since at least 2006). It should also be noted that a number of administrators have concurred with the lack of notability of Ananny and that an article on her should not be created. I guess it's high time that something be done. I've never reported a persistent spammer before, other than as vandalism. Most of these articles have been protected occassionally specifically because of Ananny. But I'm not certain if the website can or should be blacklisted. Thanks. freshacconci talktalk 18:40, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Wikia spamming

Expanding on a topic higher up, I lately ran into a couple of accounts adding wikia wikis in a .. unhelpful manner. It makes me slowly tempted to XLinkBot the whole wikia.com domain. As wikis, they generally fail the external links guideline, I suspect that there are quite often cases where users have a COI (being editors of the documents on both sides, which could 'fail' our conflict of interest guideline as well as it makes the info seem reliable, though it is both of the same kind). Wiki's also generally fail WP:RS, etc. etc.

Examples:

If a user follows the link, listed as the official site for Sara Ramírez, they will be redirected to a malicious website where a html exploit is used to install malicious code on the affected system. Site has numerous redirections to a well known trojan site. Number four on wiki guidelines, WP:LINKSTOAVOID. There is no business ADR DESIGN in New York City. [I do get a match for a Mr. Rodriguez, however at the same address and phone number/ http://www.aldrodriguez.com/site/index.htm] Moreover, this site doesn't seem to have any evidence of having contributions by the actress herself.

Couple of things to counter the McCafee assessment and redirections: The site is listed as the "official site" on IMDB, but with a clear disclaimer at the bottom. And, this is simply conjecture, but I don't think the domain owner's intent is for profit or malicious, he looks to be involved in the same profession and her "official site" does get consistent fan forum postings. The contact information for the actress is update and correct. Aruhnka ( talk) 14:01, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

This IP has been attempting to re-add the link at least as far back as May 2007. They have received warnings on their talk page about the link from the very start, and have brought it up at the help desk multiple times where they've been told not to add the link (see: [16], [17], and [18]) ... yet they still continue to add the link. There may be a language issue involved here too ... but even with that, they don't seem to be taking the advice of multiple editors to stop adding the link. --- Barek ( talkcontribs) - 05:42, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

As you might guess from the topic, this is a huge magnet for spammers. I don't really know whether it would be bether to semi-protect the article for an extended period of time or to just blacklist some of the most blatant spam sites. Since I cannot think of any meaningful usage of the most recently used links, I'd suggest blacklisting these:

Seems we have two obvious matches here:
Both of these IP's were used for vandalism only (see also talk page of first IP). But since the IP has probably changed recently, a long-term block of the first one could probably miss the point. For the second one, the reports are probably a bit to few for a long-term block yet.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

How can you even tell that someone is spamming a page that is already 500 acres of pure linkfarm. Most of that stuff probably needs to go. TastyPoutine talk (if you dare) 14:08, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
I killed the directory of software links under WP:NOT a link directory. The external links in the standards sections could be converted to references. The remaining external links section, while too large, seems to contain mostly articles and not extreme spam at first glance. I'll leave it to somebody else to do more cleanup. -- GraemeL (talk) 14:20, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Discussions on Beetstra's talk pages with an editor of the site ( User:JayFang) at

B. ( talkcontribs) 02:22, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks A.B. And good to know where to go to request removal of interwiki mapping in the future. -- SiobhanHansa 13:54, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

-- SiobhanHansa 12:38, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

terryananny.com

Wiki's also generally fail WP:RS, etc. etc.

The above user is adding links to www.reqd.org/katie/ (referral information removed). This is a porn site that is engaging in viral marketing; claiming to expose more images for each click that the person drives to the website. The handful of links to it have been removed; but should they be added again, I recommend fast-tracking this one to the blacklist. --- Barek ( talkcontribs) - 21:59, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

TRGA

An article about the Trga (properly TRGA), which apparently stands for Traditional Rules Golf Association, has been posted three times recently by different editors, most recently the SPA User:Ozgolf, and speedy deleted as spam. In a talk-page dialogue, Ozgolf mentioned that "Several players were sent this text to post..." Apparently this organization is trying to get around WP COI policies by sending members the text and graphics of an article to post, and all of the previous articles were direct copy-and-pastes of this. Be advised. - Realkyhick ( Talk to me) 15:24, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Update: Now salted by User:Pegasus. Article was also posted under "Traditional rules of golf," which was deleted via Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Traditional rules of golf three weeks ago.

cricoid.info

This medical blog/linkfarm has been spammed to several parasite-related articles. I've removed all the links to it, but I thought it would be worth reporting here. I haven't been involved with this project for a very long time, so I'm not sure about the protocols with these links. Anyway, cricoid.info: Linksearch en (insource) - meta - de - fr - simple - wikt:en - wikt:frMER-C X-wikigs • Reports: Links on en - COIBot - COIBot-Local • Discussions: tracked - advanced - RSN • COIBot- Link, Local, & XWiki Reports - Wikipedia: en - fr - de • Google: searchmeta • Domain: domaintoolsAboutUs.com has been spammed by 192.248.40.6 ( talk • contribs • deleted contribs • blacklist hits • AbuseLog • what links to user page • COIBot • count • block log • x-wiki • Edit filter search • WHOIS • RDNS • tracert • robtex.com • StopForumSpam • Google • AboutUs • Project HoneyPot) with, for example, this edit to elephantiasis (where I first found the spam), and Dsasanayake ( talk · contribs · deleted contribs · blacklist hits · AbuseLog · what links to user page · count · COIBot · user page logs · x-wiki · status · Edit filter search · Google · StopForumSpam) with, for example, this edit to enterobiasis. I've indefinitely blocked the user and deleted their userpage, which was just a copy-paste from the user's site. I'm not sure what to do about the IP address that has been spamming the links. The situation probably needs monitoring. Graham 87 07:15, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

But I suppose we have consensus that these links (I didn't even click them) are "sparable"? -- PaterMcFly ( talk) 10:00, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

-- Aruhnka ( talk) 14:01, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
