I've been tidying up Types of business entity, which is basically a list of various types of company, partnership etc., arranged by country. Previously Ireland was lumped together with the United Kingdom; I've now given it its own section, but I don't have much information to put in it. I've noticed on my travels that there are quite a few instances of {{ WikiProject Ireland}} which have been substituted rather than transcluded. This is usually only a problem when they categorise the pages they're substituted onto into Category:WikiProject banners, thereby cluttering it up. Would it be possible for a project member to go through the pages below, work out if there was a reason for the banner to be substituted, and then either de-substitute, or remove the category link, as necessary? Thanks for list, Comrade Melon. I see the problem it caused for Category:WikiProject banners, but you may also have noticed tat it also meant that these pages didn't end up in Category:Category-Class Ireland articles, so they were also rather broken for this project's purposes.

So I have unsubsted them all, using {{ WikiProject Ireland category}}, which is the banner thing for categories round here.

As to why they were substed ... I didn't check the history for all of them, but on those that I did check it seems to have been the work of Sarah777 at the end of March. last month I posted a note here about Ireland-related articles of unclear notability. I just wanted to note that I have uploaded an update of those listings, with data as of April 25. The listing is here.

The reason why I'm posting this is that the number of articles (for this project) has dramatically increased - it's now at 325, as opposed to 73 last month. That's not necessarily worrisome, and may in fact be intended; I just noticed it as a quite unusual. In any case, you may want to have a look at the listing. -- B. As Sarah noted, the increase is because we have been tagging them in our assessment drive, and a quick check shows quite a lot of them tagged by me. When assessing an article, I tend to tag it with {{ notability}} if there is reasonable doubt that it meets the notability guidelines. In some cases, the problem is a lack of references demonstrating notability, and in others I have doubts whether it could ever meet the grade. The most blatant cases I have PRODded or taken to AFD (and listed at Deletion sorting/Ireland and/or Deletion sorting/Northern Ireland); a quick check shows that I have AFDed over 50 Irish articles in the last 6 weeks. Most of them have, I think, been reasonably uncontentious deletions, though some have been kept (and in a few cases I have withdrawn the nominations).

I don't think it's appropriate to infer anything, and I agree that no flag should be used unless there evidence in WP:RS that a particular flag was used.

As a general rule, I think that 1801-1922 flags are problematic, because any flag will be seen as POV: the union jack was the legal flag in that period, but since the union was rejected by the majority of the Irish population for most of its existence, the flag is a POV statement. I have recently gained GA-class for an article on James Graham (soldier), an Irish soldier who fought in the Napoleonic wars and was awarded an annuity for his gallantry at Waterloo. He was born in/near Clones, Co. Monaghan, in 1791, and died at Royal Hospital Kilmainham in 1845. I have taken the article as far as I can with the resources available to me. To reach FA class it would need more information about his family and early life in Clones, some more photographs/illustrations (such as his memorial plaque in Clones, or a copy of his portrait now at National Gallery of Ireland), and perhaps more from his service record. It may be that one of you has access to resources there in Ireland, and would be interested in pursuing this. Drop into the article talk page or my talk page if you are interested. It's because this is the English language wikipedia and so common terms like Prime Minister are used in addition to the Official Irish name. It makes things more readable for any editors who do not speak Irish. The point I was making is that the Taoiseach is the head of government of Ireland, not the prime minister, which is the name that the British and others use for head of government; likewise the Ceann Comhairle is the presiding officer of the Dáil, not the speaker which is the name used by other states. Note the key sentences (from Head of government) "the head of government is often styled Prime Minister" and (from Speaker (politics)) "The term speaker is a title often given to the presiding officer of a legislative body." The more appropriate names for the templates would therefore be Heads of government of Ireland, Deputy heads of government of Ireland and Presiding officers of Dáil Éireann. I've noticed some of them are not being formatted correctly, see Peter Hughes (politician) or [3] if someone else has edited it since. Variously, the oireachtas-database template, politician-stub template and sometimes the See also section, Footnotes section and External links section are ending up in the navboxes.

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

• The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
• The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
• A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. Hello. I'm PetaRZ, mainly active on bg.wikipedia. First, I'm not quite sure if this is the most appropriate place to ask, but have you ever heard of Irish TV series called "Luxor" (or possibly spelled Luksor), because an article about it appeared on bg.wiki and now it's on AfD, because we failed to find any (reliable or even not :)) sources. The article claims that it was broadcast on Ireland TV1 between 1961 and 1991 (which may explain why we fail to find IMDB record or any other information online), and produced by "Х1" and "Medieval Dolphin Media Home Entertainment". According to the article, more than 450 episodes were broadcast. It must be a series for a 9 years old boy, who found a time machine. The different parts, and the respective times of their first broadcast, should be "Luxor and the Evolution of the Universe" (1961-1965), "Luxor in the prehistory"(1965-1968), "Luxor in the Classical world"(1968-1973), "Luxor in the Middle Ages"(1973-1982) and "Luxor in the Modern times"(1982-1991). What you may not know about is that there is an extensive Irish Wikipedians "To Do" list here that you may want to reference too in the same way that show up in the Irish Wikipedians' notice board or possible use that as a basis for the "Tasks" to do. Mind you, little work seems to get done on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Ireland main page except for some updating of occasional items like I do for the FAs. Maybe you are an organisational person who can create a better, more useful layout for the project. Just an idea, but perhaps you could use a table style like the Irish Wikipedians list and group the different headings into a similar format for easier reading because a simple list looks quite boring. There is currently a proposal for a bot that would notify WikiProjects when their articles have entered certain workflows, e.g. when they are nominated for deletion or for Good article reassessment.

The question is whether a relevant number of wikiprojects would be interested in using such a bot. You can find details of the functionality, and leave your comments, at the bot request page.

Just popping in briefly ('fraid I won't be back properly until next month), to say that in nearly every case it's a reference to a source used in writing the article (rather than an external link, which points to further reading material). It would of course be best if footnotes were used at each point where the oi-db is the source, but that's a job to be done. There is a place named Kilmanagh in the U.S. state of Michigan. I have a brief description of the town indicating that it is an Irish name, first used to describe the nearby creek that overflowed each spring. I see it mentioned in a few Ireland-related articles (e.g., Redhouse, Kilkenny, Scattery Island Cathedral and Monastery, Kilkenny Central Access Scheme, Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship), but nothing more. What does the term mean? Also, Kilmanagh is currently a redlink -- the only other mention of it I see is Kilmanagh, Ontario which is a redirect to Caledon, Ontario -- I was planning to make a disambiguation page for Kilmanagh. In general it looks good, seems a comprehensive, well cited article. Let me make some observations/suggestions;

• The image needs a Fair use rationale by adding and filling in this Template:Non-free use rationale template.
• Are there any more images available, especially public domain images, even current images of one of the memorials.
• There are quite a lot of duplicate wikilinks. You only need to link the first instance of a term, not several.
• You really only need one verifiable citation for any statement that might be questioned, while in many instances there are as many as five when one would be sufficient. I not saying remove them all but I would reduce the quantity of citations and concentrate on quality.
• Generally we are now seeing that no dates are not being linked at all, so I you could unlink but that's a small point for now.

Some editors on the NI page are insisting on changing the term Flag of Ireland to something else e.g. Irish Tricolour - even though they use the correct names of the UK and former NI flags. To be honest, I don't see the point of it. It's just a list of English/British/United Kingdomish kings and queens with the word "Ireland" substituted, and a shorter list of old Irish kingdoms to give it local flavour. There's a problem on this page. One editor in particular insists on a list of (possibly) school mates. Three editors, including me, have removed the list and it's been restored each time, most recently with an unjustified protection template. The editor (John-joe123) has been, IMO, unreasonable (see User talk:Folks at 137#Ballyshannon Article) and ignores comments from other eds (see User talk:John-joe123#Ballyshannon). Anyone suggest an admin with an Irish background (to add weight) to persuade JJ123 to act properly? I hope that this approach would stop things getting nasty. Well he's still at it! Today he restored that list, and added an objectionable comment to Fribbler's talk page. We've tried reasoning, repeated corrections and warnings; to no effect. I'm as annoyed by the hassle as by anything else, but perhaps we adopt a "shoot on sight" approach (monitor & delete asap) and, if that doesn't work by Monday, request a block (based on discourtesy and 3RR). There is ongoing discussion on the talk page for the Manual of Style (including a series of polls) aimed at achieving consensus on presenting dates in American (December 6, 1922) or International (6 December 1922) format on an article by article basis. The poll gives full instructions, but briefly the choices are:

• C = Option C, the winner of the initial poll and run-off. (US articles have US format dates, international format otherwise)
• R = Retain existing wording. (National format for English-speaking countries, no guidance otherwise).

I came across this article when I checked through the edits of a vandalizing IP. In this case, however, the solution is not a simple revert of the last edit as I failed to find a single useful revision of this article. This curious article started its career on 26 August 2005 as town of the Scottish island of Skye, got hijacked to become an article describing the Irish village Broadford in County Limerick, got moved to its current name, its population suddenly decreased significantly, became exclusively Roman-Catholic, was put under quarantine because of an outbreak of the Ebola virus, was outdone by Dromcollogher which managed to get almost three people killed by the infamous "Wall Of Death", has so few residents that they must be enumerated multiple times, returned to a higher population number, got even Gary Glitter as resident, got rid of the Ebola virus but kept the low population, got an interesting new landmark beside the Chipper and Neenans Pub, its population suddenly increased from 300 to 1000, got the misspelled Carnegie Library, extended its set of landmarks with a human, got rat-infested, which caused the population to come down to a historic low of 75 persons, got a church dedicated to the Lady of the snows, got 1000 persons returned, vanished from the map, got some spelling error in one of the vandalisms fixed, got some vandalized vandalism reverted, got infected by leper, got the highest obesity rate in Munster, the vandalism was once again nicely spellchecked, got a nice infobox, became famous due to the Broadford Musical, and was finally vandalized again. Hello all...

An image used in the Carlingford, County Louth article, specifically Image:Autumn-Ghan-House brighter.jpg, has a little bit of a licensing issue. The image was uploaded back when the rules around image uploading were less restrictive. It is presumed that the uploader was willing to license the picture under the GFDL license but was not clear in that regard. As such, the image, while not at risk of deletion, is likely not clearly licensed to allow for free use in any future use of this article. If anyone has an image that can replace this, or can go take one and upload it, it would be best.
