What to do about article not finished before blitz deadline?

Hello,

I tried to take on an ambitious article for copyediting: Saudi Arabia–United States relations, with around 8500 words. I have done sections totaling maybe 7000 words so far, but have not finished the article yet. (I forgot that the deadline was in UTC). It would be unfair of me to ask for more time and of course I will finish copyediting the article for my own satisfaction. But I was wondering if I should mark the words I have done for the purposes of the blitz. YordleSquire ( talk) 00:04, 21 April 2024 (UTC) reply

I think it’s both within the rules and spirit of the blitz that you can add the full amount of words if you finish it within 24 hours of the conclusion of the blitz. :) Otherwise, adding the amount of words you did complete should also be fine? GraziePrego ( talk) 00:51, 21 April 2024 (UTC) reply
Recently, the barnstar calculations haven't been made until at least 24 hours after the end of the blitz. That is the real deadline. If you finish the article by then, I think you can claim full credit. If not, your best guess should suffice. In my case, I started a very long article on the first of the month and finished it just as the blitz ended. I'm counting the fraction of the number of edits I did within the blitz period times the total word count. Dhtwiki ( talk) 05:19, 21 April 2024 (UTC) reply
Thank you for your replies! I was not aware of the de facto 24 hour deadline. I was able to finish the article and marked it as such. YordleSquire ( talk) 00:10, 22 April 2024 (UTC) reply
