Background

Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Television (referred to further as MOS:TV) was first created at its current article location in 2008, and in the 8 years since its inception, has undergone a number of changes and additions here and there. Within the past two years or so, many discussions at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Television have request clarification to certain sections of the MOS, or proposals for new or the removal of sections/content (particular interest in this time frame has revolved around WP:TVCAST). (Feel free to peruse the MOS:TV history at your leisure.)

As such, User:Favre1fan93 decided to gauge interest in users of WP:WikiProject Television in June 2016 on the TV project talk page, to see if others would like to take the time to thoroughly examine the MOS:TV and update/change as needed (that discussion can be seen here). The discussion proved successful, with a good amount of interest and support in the initiative, with users agreeing to examine the MOS:TV section by section, with individual discussions; this lead to the creation of these subpages at the MOS:TV talk page for the discussions.

Objective

The objective of these discussions are to update and clarify the MOS:TV to better reflect current practices of editors in the television project that are not currently seen in the MOS:TV, as well as update any outdated info. The updates are to be done while still adhering to the guidelines and policies of the larger Wikipedia MOS and avoiding WP:CREEP. The hope is to keep users engaged to cover each section of the MOS:TV individually, as they will be done in individual discussions.

Notifications given

All editors are welcome to participate in any and all of the discussion held. However, certain users and talk pages were specifically notified to these discussions. They include: all users who signed at the interest post at WT:TV; a new notice at WT:TV; MOS:TV talk; WT:ANIME; WT:MOS; and WP:VPP.

Discussions

Each section of MOS:TV will be discussed at a separate subpage. You can find all discussion links in the table below, as well as an indicator to the status of the discussion process (discussing/open, or closed/finished). If you do not see a section listed you are interested in discussing, it means we have not reached it yet. Be sure to add this page to your watchlist to know when new discussions start. The next section discussion will start once a consensus on any changes has been reached on the previous. The hope is for each discussion to not last too long, but obviously each will be given the necessary time it needs. All finished discussions will have {{ Archive top}} and {{ Archive bottom}} added to them.
