Hello. I have a big request for you, guys. {{ Infobox City Poland}} needs much attention and improving. It is probably the most ugly and not-handy city infobox on Wikipedia. Maybe 52 Pickup can help, he has made already wonderful job with German Location infobox. My personal idea is that the Polish one should be just like its German counterpart which is elegant, handy etc. Standarizing styles is a good way, I suppose. I am not much into programming and the like so I can't do that, I fear I would break some patterns or something like that. Thank you very much. :) - Darwinek 14:49, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
So how are we going to go about this? I guess we have a few options

Looking at the current design, option 2 looks like the way to go - just as long as the same variables are used, to make it easier to upgrade everything. For looking at designs, it might be handy to look at how this is done on other wikis:
There are a lot of variables involved, but it is probably best to accommodate for all variables, and leave it to those responsible for Polish articles to decide which ones can go. - 52 Pickup 11:30, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
This project needs a leader -- TheJosh 21:24, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
From the three ones listed above, probably only FR wiki one looks good. I would propose creating handy one similar to the German Location one. I don't know about technical issues, if it is possible to alter existing ugly one to become handy. Generally speaking, fields are quite OK but the design is monumental and awful. - Darwinek 17:22, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
I have moved the discussion on the front page to this talk page. The project page is better suited for the template itself (for future testing purposes). Also, I have placed the current infobox on the project page (and filled it with dummy values) to give us an idea of what we have as a starting point. - 52 Pickup 17:56, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
I think this should be removed, it's not needed. -- TheJosh 03:32, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Instead of designing a new infobox from scratch, why not use {{ Infobox City}}? Unlike the German infobox, there has been no demand to import data from the Polish wiki, so Infobox City is quite suitable. Here is what the infobox for Warsaw could look using Infobox City.
Infobox City does not yet have a field for car number plates, but I'm sure that can be arranged. - 52 Pickup 15:26, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Personally I would propose reaching some consensus in this case. It seems only three of us are involved in this discussion. I noticed Polish Wikipedians' notice board about this some time ago. It seems they are leaving decision to us. - Darwinek 10:10, 23 February 2007 (UTC) I support addition of car plates variable to current widely used Infobox City and converting all articles to this one. - Darwinek 10:10, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Since Infobox City Poland is up for TfD after being converted by user User:Hiuppo to Infobox Settlement (aka Infobox City), I think we can call this complete. — MJCdetroit 17:41, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
