Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 15:10, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

People in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China do not know the meaning of country. In my English lesson, I was taught that country is 國家. In early days, when I saw the country was associated with Hong Kong, I feel puzzled. I later found that the concept of country and 國家 are not equivalent. I really hope others can differentiate country, nation, state, sovereign state, nation-state, modern state in English, and 國 and 國家 in Chinese, not the empirical stuff taught in primary school. And put an end to the endless discussion here. — HenryLi ( Talk) 21:30, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 20:26, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Not sure if there is enough information out there for these two topics, but I added two article requests - Stanley concentration camp, and Gurkha Brigades in Hong Kong. The first was a concentration camp that the Japanese occupying forces set up in Stanley during World War 2. The second has to do with the Gurkha Brigades that were stationed in Hong Kong prior to the handover in 1997. Hong Qi Gong ( Talk - Contribs) 19:26, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I've added Hongkonger to the list of tasks. The article needs lots of work, and some sections are very poorly written. Hong Qi Gong ( Talk - Contribs) 22:55, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Newly created article. I've also listed it on this WikiProject page as an article to be assessed. Please take a look and copy-edit as necessary. Also, can anybody find better pictures of the domestic workers in HK? The ones that are uploaded on WP (including commons) are not really that good. Hong Qi Gong ( Talk - Contribs) 07:33, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
I've modified the template to add the "class" and "importance" tag options. Each article tagged with these options should be categorised under the appropriate categories. Hong Qi Gong ( Talk - Contribs) 05:39, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
FYI, here is a whole list of articles that have been tagged but not assessed - Category:Unassessed Hong Kong articles. Hong Qi Gong ( Talk - Contribs) 06:58, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
I've added the "need attention" option to the tag, as well as cleaned it up a bit. Hong Qi Gong ( Talk - Contribs) 05:36, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
I did some more copy-editing and correction to the Assessment page. I noticed that other WikiProjects have specific criteria for rating their articles for specific importance ratings. Take a look at WP China or WP Cities, for example. We need to come up with these criteria ourselves. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Hong Kong/Assessment#Importance scale. Some articles have already been rated for importance, but I'm not sure what criteria was used. Maybe they were just rated according to how other WikiProjects have rated them. Hong Qi Gong ( Talk - Contribs) 03:59, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Anybody have any suggestions? I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of the scale of global recognition and domestic prominence of the subject matter. Something that is recognised globally and highly prominent locally, that would be a Top importance article. For instance, Hong Kong, Jackie Chan, etc etc. Then we go down the scale to, maybe, international recognition in various parts of Asia, but not necessarily outside of Asia. So on and so forth. Hong Qi Gong ( Talk - Contribs) 02:23, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
What does everyone think? Luke! 04:26, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
The criteria has been added. Please discuss any changes to the criteria here - to achieve consensus - before making changes. Luke! 20:06, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Ok, so how about individual HK movies? Mid-importance, I would think? Even for those movies that reached a global audience? And Cinema of Hong Kong should probably be High-importance. Hong Qi Gong ( Talk - Contribs) 09:36, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
I have a question about Category:Districts of Hong Kong. Currently all the districts are actually listed in subcategories in that category. For example, Category:Wan Chai District is listed in that category, and in return, the article Wan Chai District is listed in Category:Wan Chai District. My question is, should we also list all the district articles themselves in Category:Districts of Hong Kong, or should we just use the subcategories?
