Type in great wall of china and click GO and you are taken to Talk:Great Wall of China. Type in baseball hall of fame and click GO and you are taken to Talk:Baseball Hall of Fame. This is bad. Obviously, users should be taken to Great Wall of China and Baseball Hall of Fame respectively. How can this be fixed? Kingturtle 23:21 12 Jun 2003 (UTC)
GO nato and you get NATO.0+55+3d, not NATO. Kingturtle 06:04 15 Jun 2003 (UTC)
We need one place to develop MediaWiki documentation so I'm starting a project-neutral MediaWiki User's Guide in meta and think it would be a good idea to cross wiki redirect this page to meta:MediaWiki User's Guide: The Go button as soon as I'm done with the conversion (before that I will change each link to this page to a direct one to meta so that it appears correctly as an external link). -- mav 02:02, 7 Sep 2003 (UTC)
Why is the Go button only on the Standard skin? Wouldn't it make sense to have both Go and Search on all skins. (On some skins the Search button is labelled OK.) Nanobug 17:30, 19 Sep 2003 (UTC)
Kingturtle recently changed all occurrences of you and your in the article to the user and his/her. Does anyone else think this makes the text read less clearly? Aren't we talking to "the user"? If so, why can't we say "you"? Nanobug 01:36, 3 Oct 2003 (UTC)
You is far preferable. There's one phrase in there that goes something like "... if the user [does this or that] the user is taken to ..." Ugh! This the user lark is totally anal and sounds pompous to the twenty-first-century ear, like something from a 1950s primary-school textbook. It's different in articles within the encyclopedia proper, but in help files? The other thing about you is that it's non-gender-specific, and you don't have to keep typing his or her or him/her or be tempted to use their when you know you'd rather do the grammatical (but clumsy) thing and typle his or her or just the sexist his.
