Assignment - Meet the Mage

Get started on Wikipedia

Make sure you have already created an account and joined this course page, using the enrollment link your instructor sent you. (Because of Wikipedia's technical restraints, you may receive a message that you cannot create an account. To resolve this, please try again off campus or the next day.) Make sure you are logged in and complete the Mage's 2 training modules. 

Assignment - Game Save

Wikipedia assignment blog/journal

Save your game so you don't lose progress. Create a Google Doc titled "[Your First Name] - Wikipedia Blog." You will be given discussion questions in class and for homework to frame entries and/or reflect on the research and writing process. You will submit your doc/blog's link on Canvas and keep returning to it throughout the semester. Take notes here to help remind you how to do things (like edit a page, work in the Sandbox, etc.).

Assignment - Original analytical paper

This will come from your Project 3 Annotated Bibliography and Literature Review that you'll already be working on--no additional work will be required, but you will be pulling sources/information from your research to add to Wikipedia.

You probably have some feedback from other students and possibly other Wikipedians. Consider their suggestions, decide whether it makes your work more accurate and complete, and edit your draft to make those changes.

Milestones

Every student has finished reviewing their assigned articles, making sure that every article has been reviewed.

Assignment - Continue improving your article

Now's the time to revisit your text and refine your work. You may do more research and find missing information; rewrite the lead section to represent all major points; reorganize the text to communicate the information better; or add images and other media.

Assignment - Begin moving your work to Wikipedia

Now that you've improved your draft based on others' feedback, it's time to move your work live - to the "mainspace."
