Further explanations

Above table doesn't allow for a more complex description of issues or progress. Might be good to have a place to put those, too.

  • (a) Caftaric, Stub templates+categories: Out of process creation of many stub templates and categories, generally additionally having at least one of the following problems: severely undersized; not on the Stub Types list; messing up existing stub categorization structures.
  • (b) Caftaric, Lepidoptera (moths/butterflies) recategorization: Issue contains both complex (a lot of stuff on the meta-categorization side, some article-categorization) and fairly straight-forward (majority of the article categorization side) issues. Needless addition of multiple layers of taxa between Order and Superfamily in multiple branches of the tree, done in such a manner it divorces part of the existing structures; and applied to articles in such a manner that even if those categories were useful (most of them aren't), various articles are stuck several layers upstream if in the branch at all. Attempts at adding stuff into branches also not-infrequently removed it from another branch (but more on that below) While I've mostly re-married these (including a large part of it while Caftaric wasn't blocked yet), for the most part these are patchwork solutions to avoid entire branches disappearing into a void. Several categories need re-categorization within the tree, several more need upmerging or downmerging and deletion.
Regarding the above 'removed from a branch': Caftaric often overwrote the wrong categories when recategorizing articles. (E.g. Hesperiidae genera is, sensibly, the subcat of Hesperiidae (the "by taxonomy" branch of the Lepidoptera categorization-tree) and of Butterfly genera (the "by taxon rank" sub-branch of the "by taxonomy" branch). Essentially, the by-taxon-rank is a not-diffused-to branch (though it is internally diffusing). This means that while articles that are in Butterfly genera that happen to be Hesperiidae should be diffused to Hesperiidae genera; articles that are in Hesperiidae that happen to be genera should not be diffused but additionally categorized. Caftaric was perfectly happy to overwrite Hesperiidae with Hesperiidae genera when no one had gotten around to slapping a Butterfly genera category on a genus article yet, and many, many similar such issues)
