A4232

Hi Regan123,

Great job on the roadsigns!!! Can I request a non-primary (white) sign for the A4232 road, you have already done one for the primary route (green)...many thanks. Seth Whales ( talk) 20:12, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi Seth and thanks for the comments. Great work on the roads in South Wales getting them going. I generally only do one road sign for each route, so if the road is Primary for part of it then it gets a primary sign only. It makes the linking etc a lot easier. What was it you wanted one for? Regan123 ( talk) 20:29, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Well it was only because some of the roads (e.g. A4161 road, A4234 road etc) only link onto the non-primary route and not the primary route (which is only about 3-4 miles long, while the non-primary is the majority of the road). Seth Whales ( talk) 23:32, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

A1089 and A1261

Hi!

Happy New Year! Just some minor quibbles regarding the A1089 and A1261 - these should both be green primary. The A1089 is the trunk road into Tilbury. The A1261 is incorrectly shown as non-primary on maps, but due to it coming under the A13 DBFO along with the Limehouse Link, as well as literally all signage on and towards the route showing it as primary, well, it surely must be primary! Here are some pics: http://sunilprasannan612.fotopic.net/c339744.html

Greetings Regan123,

When you have the time, a non-primary sign for Image:UK road B1159.PNG in B1159 road would be great. Many thanks, -Arb. ( talk) 15:34, 3 February 2008 (UTC).

I notice User:Arbus Driver has created these, though worth noting that this and Image:UK road B1156.PNG are the wrong colours - they should be black on white. 217.36.107.9 ( talk) 11:39, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

A6018 (green)

Hi Regan 123, The A6018 is a primary route for it's whole length (see any UK road map) or Google Map of A6018, thus shouldn't this image be green as the image you have uploaded is white, could you upload a green version?

A4146, A4156

Hey, for the A505 article can I request a green A4146 sign, and for the zone 4 article a non-primary A4156 sign? To clarify because of the similar numbers, that's primary A4146 and non-primary A4156.

Thanks! Tom walker ( talk) 17:54, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

A30 (non-primary)

Hi, could we have a non-primary version for the A30. The A30 is non-primary at its junction with the M3 and A303 so I think a non-primary A30 sign this should be shown at this junction in the A303 infobox. This should be in addition to and not replace the primary version. ZoeL ( talk) 11:07, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

A5024

I found that this one was missing, thanks to MZMcBride's missing-images report. I wanted to create it myself, but quickly found that the fonts I found online didn't actually match the ones used in the existing images. Is there a standard transformation that's used to get these right, or are they all just hand-hacked? Thanks.-- SarekOfVulcan ( talk) 15:39, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I've entered a brief, placeholder for this road. You may ask, why enter an article for a road which does not exist?? However, it will do soon!!

A (local authority) decision has already been made to renumber the southernmost part of the existing A16 road, once the A1073 upgrade is complete (which will form the new southern end of the A16).

The road is going to be non-primary/local, so presumably that should be black on white.

Thanks for your help. ( Berk ( talk) 16:09, 18 April 2009 (UTC))

Generic road sign template

{{Road marker|UK A2|A 61}} Would this project be interested in a template for producing road signs without needing an image for each? The sign on the right was produced by wikitext {{Road marker|UK A2|A 61}}and almost works. It needs a better substitute for Transport Medium from Meta:SVG fonts and a template expert to make the text colour work (it is set to #FFD41C yellow). Certes ( talk) 00:12, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Colour fixed; just the font to do. The "A2" refers to a background of suitable size to accept a two-digit A road number. The UK would need about a dozen such simple background images but that's far less than the number of images being produced at the moment, and adding a new image would become a rare request. I'm just writing to ask if you've put this project on hold for the time being?? There are still a number of outstanding requests. If you could let me know. ( Berk ( talk) 18:27, 23 January 2010 (UTC))

If nobody is producing traditional images, could this be a good time to trial {{ Road marker}} as described in the previous section? It's being used successfully on Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian roads; we just need to pick a font that's acceptably close to the copyrighted Transport. I think the templates we need are UK P1 to UK P4 for green primary route markers with space for 1-4 digits, UK S1 to UK S4 for white secondary and UK M1 to UK M6 for motorways, 6 being for A167(M). I can produce the templates and images quickly and easily if anyone shows interest in using them. Certes ( talk) 18:54, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Following the opening of the M80, I presume that the A80 now stops in Moodiesburn as shown in OpenStreetMaps (the map only site that seems to be up to date). This means that the A80 needs a non primary sign. The A98 needs a non primary one too, its primary status was removed in 2000, and if you look on street view all the signs were replaced with non primary ones. If it is, I am willing to help out with the creation of road signs. I have made a few signs in my time, so with a little bit of preparation, I should be able to get going with ease. I do have a few questions, however:

  1. Are there design drawings (freely) available for each type of sign?
  2. What naming schemes are used?
  3. What about routes with primary and non-primary sections?
  4. Will the Roadgeek Transport font work for these, or is there another font?
  5. Have any templates been created to facilitate sign making?

I'd love to get started soon. – Fredddie 23:38, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
