Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
While there are existing WikiProjects related to ethnicity and nationality, such as WikiProject Australia and WikiProject Ethnic groups, these do not specifically focus on the Asian Australian experience. By creating a dedicated WikiProject for Asian Australians, we can ensure that articles related to this group receive the attention and focus they deserve.
Asian Australians are the fastest growing ethnic group in the Australia, at approximately 17.4% of the population. Their contributions to Australian society, culture, and economy are important. They represent countries such as China, India, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and Vietnam, among others. However, despite their significant presence and contributions, the representation of Asian Australians on Wikipedia is relatively low.

Discussion

Should we instead create a joint task force between WikiProject Australia and WikiProject Asian Americans. This will be set up similarly to the Korean military history task force, which is jointly controlled by both the Military history and Korea WikiProjects. Let me know what you guys think.-- AverageFraud ( talk) 00:50, 20 May 2023 (UTC) reply

@ AverageFraud: Did you leave a notice at Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board about the development of the task force. If not, it may be a good idea to do so. JML1148 ( talk | contribs) 10:22, 12 June 2023 (UTC) reply
I did previously, but I guess it has been removed after a while.
I think that we now have enough support. If you have any free time I would like to get this started.

Asian Australian articles

  1. ^ According to the local classification, South Caucasian peoples (Azerbaijanis, Armenians, Georgians) belong not to the European but to the "Central Asian" group, despite the fact that the territory of Transcaucasia has nothing to do with Central Asia and geographically belongs mostly to Western Asia.
