This page is for listing contributors who have verifiably placed copyrighted materials on Wikipedia without verification of permission when there is reason to check other contributions to see if other articles or media files constitute a concern. It is not for listing individual articles or tagging individual media files for evaluation; see Wikipedia:Copyright problems or Wikipedia:Guide to image deletion for that.

All Wikipedia editors are encouraged to assist with the matters below. Some tips for doing so are found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Copyright Cleanup/How to clean copyright infringements. Please remember that our purpose here is to address a potentially serious legal concern for Wikipedia. This material must be cleaned, but it is not our purpose to harass individuals listed here for evaluation, though some may require administrator intervention to protect the project. Individuals should be courteously advised of copyright policies. If multiple articles are tagged for infringement, it is better to leave an individual note than fill the contributor's page with multiple, redundant template advisories.

Note: There is a proposal to replace this ad hoc process with an official one at WP:CCI, which see. Feedback and contribution to this effort would be much appreciated.

User:Dcoetzee has put at the disposal of WikiProject Copyright Cleanup a "contribution surveyor" program for Windows that scans the history of an editor and clusters his or her contributions by article, putting these into a list prioritized by most significant contributions. Each list includes diffs which also indicate the size of the contributor's specific contribution. The program is available in zip form at http://moonflare.com/misc/ContributionSurveyor.zip Instructions are included in the zip file.

If creating a subpage including the output of this program, it is advisable to subdivide into sections for easier management. Longer contribution histories may need multiple pages. A useful hierarchy for these pages is Wikipedia:WikiProject Copyright Cleanup/Username. These can be linked from this page for convenience. They are unlikely to be necessary for contributors with less extensive histories. If you create such a page, please include {{ noindex}} at its top.

This section is for listing contributors who require extensive evaluation because it is confirmed that they have placed copyrighted text on Wikipedia. If you simply have concerns about an editor, but no confirmation, please discuss your concerns either directly with the editor or bring them up at the project talk page.

To list a contributor for evaluation

• Create a new level 3 subsection at the bottom of the page with the contributor name (===Username===)
• Beneath the header, provide a {{ user}} template for the username ({{user|Username}})
• Provide a link to the cleanup subpage, if any
• Briefly describe the history, signing the listing with ~~~~

To close an evaluation request

• Place {{Resolved|1=~~~~}} at the head of the listing
