4	2023 Speaker of the United States House of Representatives election		1,711,549		The 2023 Speaker of the United States House of Representatives election began and concluded this week, with #6 defeating #21 to become #20. Although the outcome was expected, the means were not; a far-right coalition of House Republicans prevented McCarthy from advancing as Speaker. McCarthy was able to flip several votes to his favor on Friday, although was unsuccessful in convincing several Republicans. Following an overnight vote, McCarthy was elected Speaker in the early hours of January 7.
5	Andrew Tate		1,413,650		This kickboxer-turned-misogynist was arrested last week, following a high-profile own by Greta Thunberg. The saga continues this week, as Romanian police seized several cars at his Pipera mansion. At least we now know they weren't all rented.
6	Kevin McCarthy		1,373,664		Following #4, this California Republican and apathetic Internet "savant" became #20, in a post- Gingrich and post-Trump GOP.
7	Jeremy Renner		1,315,035		Like #3, this actor—best known for his role as Hawkeye in the Avengers series of films—was involved in a snowmobile accident this week, although thankfully he survived.

Although its ability to generate arguments in the style of a neo-Nazi, give instructions on how to build a bomb, and provide stochastic yet confident answers are certainly worrying, the technology is impressive, and the ability to generate a Shakespeare dialogue in the style of an Italian mobster can't be undervalued.
