    • @ Athene81 and Xaosflux: I don't mind that the import request was done, but I edit-conflicted when trying to submit what I was going to say ... but I think it's still worth saying anyway. Here goes: not done, not even importing the revisions to your sandbox as I would do to comply with your request properly, as that would be too much of an endorsement of it for my taste. Firstly, she in no way complies with the English Wikipedia's notability guideline for actors as a child actor who has only been in one relatively minor film. Secondly, if you have a conflict of interest related to her or the film, you must declare it. Thirdly, your the only person who has made non-minor edits to the German article, so there's hardly any point in doing the import anyway. Graham 87 14:54, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

  • Note by importing administrator:  Done ... you're not going too fast ... and any topic is OK for the English Wikipedia ... but imports really aren't that necessary here unless you have some sort of special need to preserve authorship information ... the edit summary provided by the content translation tool is fine for licensing purposes. • @ Graham87: I'd found this page on Category:Wikipedia articles needing cleanup after translation from Japanese and wanted to get my feet wet with an obscure article, since the guides on translating/importing articles are pretty obtuse. What sort of article could I try this out with? Fredlesaltique ( talk) 04:16, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
    • @ Fredlesaltique: I can't think of one ... honestly even for new articles importing is very much optional and is only strictly necessary in unusual circumstances (and from the German Wikipedia, due to their community's interpretation of copyright policy). Graham 87 08:09, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
      • @ Graham87: Hmmm I'll try and figure something out then. • New name: user:MunichMic/Tynset (novel)
  • Note: I've only translated the opening section so far: Tynset is a lyrical work of prose published in 1965 by the German writer Wolfgang Hildesheimer. Often described as a novel, although not by Hildesheimer himself, it relates the thoughts of an insomniac over the course of a sleepless night. The central theme of Tynset, one of Hildesheimer’s major works, is resignation in face of an absurd world. The first-person narrator from Tynset is also found in other works by Hildesheimer, and displays similarities with Hildesheimer himself. The work is named after the Norwegian township Tynset, which the narrator envisions as a destination.

The book was a bestseller upon publication, attracted strong attention in the contemporary press, and was translated into several languages, but could not achieve the popularity of Hildesheimer’s Lieblosen Legenden. Hildesheimer was awarded the Bremen City Literature Prize (Literaturpreis der Stadt Bremen) in 1966 for Tynset. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MunichMic ( talkcontribs) 07:44, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

      • @ Graham87: I agree, that I don't think this article is ready to go, thus why I only imported to the sandbox. All of your warnings and cautions above are correct. If the page does go anywhere, having the attribution of the original shouldn't hurt - this should certainly not be taken as a quality endorsement from me, in RFPI I usually err on the side of helping to increase attributions and am certainly declining to do the article creation. If this was some huge import, probably would have declined it as well. — xaosflux Talk 15:01, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

I will do imports from other language Wikipedias but I far prefer doing them from old Wikipedia databases. Graham 87 17:31, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
Gotcha, thank you for letting me know - I'll hold off on requesting imports in the future unless there's something funky, then. ThadeusOfNazereth Talk to Me! 18:34, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

It'd be nice if I could mess around directly with the Japanese article code/data, then copy-paste the final translation into the English wikipedia page once it's finally finished. Not sure how to do that though. I appreciate all the help. Fredlesaltique ( talk) 00:34, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

I actually think that this import should *not* be done, because the French version, as it says in the history there, is itself originally a translation from the Finnish article and the attribution in the page history of the English version is adequate as it is. @ Therrmannmpe: yes we can. Also, history import is only that. To move your article from Draft to Mainspace, you can either have someone else review it, or you can be bold and just do it yourself if you think it is ready. • Language: de:Tynset (Roman)
