With regard to the page
insertion reaction, in
this edituser:MichChemGSI has cut-and-pasted from
this sandbox of
User:Chem507f10grp3 to article space. This is a problem as MichChemGSI seems to be the instructor of CHEM507, and it is the students who actually wrote the new version. As such, MichChemGSI can't irrevocable release the contribution under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL as it isn't his to release. Can the sandbox history be moved and replace the existing post of MichChemGSI and thereby correctly attribute the contribution?
EdChem (
talk) 16:23, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
OK, thanks - now the history is merged which is good, but the article is back in user space, which isn't so good. Could you now move the sandbox article with all of its history to the page
insertion reaction, over the current article, so that the new version from the students is displayed with all of the history intact and the old article is also available in history? Am I making sense? Sorry, I am not experienced with this kind of problem.

Taktsang Dzong back to
Paro Taktsang. In April the article Paro Taktsang was moved to Taktsang Dzong with the rationale "4 times the google hits as this" However I get 65,100 google hits for “Paro Taksang” or "Paro Taktsang" but only 6,980 for “Taksang Dzong” or "Taktsang Dzong" - so the rationale used for that move seems flawed. In Bhutan, where I live, this monastery is popularly known as "Paro Taktsang" not "Taktsang Dzong" (it isn't even a "
Dzong" in the usual sense of the word) - so I think this article needs to be moved back to Paro Taktsang. I think this needs administrative help. Thanks.

Someone moved "Terry Farrell (architect)" to "/Old" violating
WP:SUBPAGES and
WP:CFORK creating a fork article at the prime name, instead of editing it. The comment about promotion left at the new talk page seems to be able to be solved with revision hiding or oversighting, instead of moving the entire edit history away (and does not seem to be the case with older versions of the article, so a simple revert to earlier version and some editing would have solved the problem). The talk page histories should be merged, with the current content of both talk pages visible after the histmerge.
I think this is a "cut-and-paste" type move, since edit history has been separated from its page, with a new revision appearing at the name, but all old revisions disappearing.

List of civil parishes in Cornwall (pre-2009) has been cut-and-paste from
List of civil parishes in Cornwall, which is now occupied by an article which is largely duplicating this page. The new title (
List of civil parishes in Cornwall (pre-2009)) is misleading, as the list includes the new parishes created after 2009, and did so at the time of the move. This appears to be a clear case of content forking. The only new information added at
List of civil parishes in Cornwall is whether there is a parish council or parish meeting; and a break-up of the list by alphabetical letters; both of which could have been included as an edit to the original. It would be better to move this page back to its original position (where it formed one of the sub-pages of
List of civil parishes in England).

Yes I'd read that. Followup question: The user who migrated the content (not me), moved it into the newer page. (There've been no further edits to the original since it was tagged for merging, and no further edits to the more recent article (that had the preferred title) since the c+p merge.) Wouldn't it be better on pages that do not have a complex history to histmerge so the first edit on the live page is the earliest? –
