(You and me both) They are two different people; the singer has the same name as the actress but performs under the stage name Chuu; I was thinking split everything but the most recent revision of

delete

Move Red Roots (band) to
Red Roots over the redirect.
Finally, the deleted edits for Talk:Red Roots from 2012 and earlier should be restored. The bot edit made on Christmas (25 December 2017) should be left deleted.
Andrew Newman – Page has a messy history; was initially created as a dab page in 2013, then briefly a non-notable footballer biography until the dab page was restored, then whittled down to a single entry and redirected; it has only been a biography for the TV executive since 8 February 2019, hence I believe most of this history should be split and merged into

Mainspace editing occurs after copy-paste on July 2, draft editing since was merely the copy-paster's declining AfC draft because "the mainspace article exists" after the fact. Thank you for your response to this request.
I dream of horses, you are right that I am interested in this outcome. I want to understand more why the page history merge request was rejected. If interested admins were to go into the history of the List of general authorities article, they would find that the histories for such subpages were merged with the main page as a matter of routine for most of the last decade. It is
Trödel who has helped me with those page merges in the past. I hate to put that user on the spot by pinging them into this conversation, but I am sure the page histories would not have been merged in prior years if doing so was as problematic as was implied with the rejection of these requests. That user can speak more to his/her own experience and why the page merges were done in the past. But in the meantime, what may not be understood is that the subpages are always created every year to allow space for changes in area leadership that become effective each year on August 1 to be made in advance. Having a record of the history of those changes is vital to the upkeep of the List of general authorities page. Without such a merge, there will be gaps in terms of what has changed, when it has changed, and why, as a result of the work on the subpage. And if it was able to be done in the past, why shouldn't it be doable now? Unless, of course, the user who helped me with this in the past did something that should not have been don, which I doubt is the case. The only reason I filed such requests here is because that user who helped me in the past, last I heard, had scaled back participation on Wikipedia, which makes asking for assistancefrom him/her problematic for this year. I have not reached out to that user this go-round because he/she scaled back participation on Wikipedia, as I have had to do, within the last couple of years. And the only difference this year is that I also had to create a subpage for the
Area (LDS Church page due to the fact that the 10 North American Areas of the Church were consolidated down to 6 as of today (August 1). With this additional background in mind, any additional insight that can be provided on the rejection of these requests would be apprecated. And as I said, I hate to have to ping in Trödel here, especially if he/she is still on Wikipedia infrequently, but I really think it best for him/her to answer further questions as to why page history merges have been done in prior years. With that said, thanks. --
Jgstokes (

Not sure why this is controversial. You have an announcement on X that a change will be coming and is effective on Y - between X and y there are very few changes but updating the page early would be a violation of
WP:Crystal so the editors edited on a users subpage and then the change is made. There have rarely been edits on article page between X&Y and the user page then has a good history of the changes that have been made and which authors have made those changes. --

Although I knew that I had attempted to follow the merge procedure as closely as possible (several months ago when I carried out the merge), my recent discovery of "Requests for history merge" had left me unsure of it, especially since the page is edited so infrequently (and thus I can't even "assume" that an admin had even looked over the merge in the months since I carried it out). Anthony Appleyard: The irony of that is that I am the one who carried out the text-merge and put that box on the talk page. Thank you for clarifying this. Sincerely,

Anthony Appleyard: the merge is supposed to be with user's sandbox (I did not propose it, so I am not 100%). I proposed an entirely unrelated content merger of two articles that cover very similar topics. Please take a closer look at article history. I am an admin and I could do the histmerger but I haven't done it in ages and I am sure I would mess smth up. Thanks,

Renata3: Please, in more detail: (1) Do you mean text-merge or history-merge? (2) Which user's sandbox? (3) Which other page do you want it merging with?

Anthony Appleyard, please compare
Special:Diff/897432020/897440640 (or rather the lack of noticeable differences) for a clear indication of a copy-and-paste move. I'd like to move the sandbox history into the mainspace article to show how the article was developed.

To avoid confusion, I have re-issued the request, and I have commented out the other, unrelated request for now.

KCKN (defunct) into
KDTD — The content in
KCKN (defunct) has a long article history dating to 2009, and with the two articles merging (I brought over almost the entire text of KCKN (defunct) just now), I want their histories to be combined as well is possible.

All of the edits for
Eminem albums discography from 15:20, 4 May 2018 and earlier should be merged back into the history of Eminem discography. This should be done with "
MergeHistory" so that we do not have to ask a steward, and would resolve an archived request from last year at
WP:AN. After doing that, all of the remaining deleted edits for Eminem albums discography should then be restored.

GeoffreyT2000: Although I am an admin,
Special:MergeHistory refused this move request "Unable to perform history merge as more than the limit of Array revisions would be moved.". Trying to move the edits a batch at a time would not work, because I would have to move the newest batch first, which Special:MergeHistory will not do.

Thanks for tagging me, but my case isn't related to the Eminem issue and I abandoned it, simply going for talk page attribution.

Anthony Appleyard: Since stewards are the only ones that are technically able to do this, and since the number of revisions is so high, I suggest:
Making a copy (yes, copy-and-paste, with a note for attribution) of the current content of each as a backup
Filing a request on phabricator for database supervision while the merge is carried out, similar to
phab:T169440
Thanks, --

Raymie,
GeoffreyT2000, and
DannyS712: Why is the page to be split?
This diff between edits before and after the desired split point (15:20, 4 May 2018) shows very little text difference in a long page. The page's edit history is continuous through this point.

No idea, I didn't ask for it to be split, just trying to help --

Please don't tag me in any further replies on this matter, my case is not related at all.
