January 11

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on January 11, 2018.

Fame (movie, TV series, and theme song)

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Killiondude ( talk) 23:10, 18 January 2018 (UTC) reply

Besides the fact that the disambiguator in the title is too long to be a plausible search term, the redirect is also misleading since there is no topic/article in the target disambiguation page that is all three of these: movie, TV series, and theme song. Steel1943 ( talk) 21:19, 11 January 2018 (UTC) reply

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page.

Celestial bureaucracy

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus, although adding the phrase to the article would help "solidify" these redirects. CoffeeWithMarkets or bd2412, any ideas of how to add it? -- Tavix ( talk) 02:52, 23 January 2018 (UTC) reply

The word "bureaucracy" does not appear in the target article. Previously looked like [1] but was "merged" in 2014. I use scare quotes because most of this content does not currently appear at the target article and so I am not certain whether the term "merge" is accurate. N Y Kevin 05:31, 26 December 2017 (UTC) reply

  • Comment added Celestial Bureaucracy to this nomination. Not sure whether the best course of action here is to add some sourced content to the target, or WP:REDLINK deletion to promote article creation. 59.149.124.29 ( talk) 02:11, 31 December 2017 (UTC) reply
  • Delete or keep as redirect. The article "celestial bureaucracy" had no sources and all versions in other languages were copies of the English one.-- Aethelwolf Emsworth ( talk) 17:26, 31 December 2017 (UTC) reply
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Killiondude ( talk) 05:57, 3 January 2018 (UTC) reply
  • Comment - The metaphor of referring to Chinese traditional deities as a "celestial bureaucracy" appears to be used by a variety of reliable sources ( here's one example), and perhaps a few sentences should be added in the related article? The redirects seem approriate enough. The only problem that I see is that the target needs to be expanded. CoffeeWithMarkets ( talk) 16:40, 8 January 2018 (UTC) reply
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: This looks like no consensus, but let's see if one more relist helps.

  • Keep and add content and sources showing use of this phrase to the target article. bd2412 T 16:01, 13 January 2018 (UTC) reply

Highway hierarchies

The result of the discussion was retarget to Highway systems by country. (non-admin closure) Galobtter ( pingó mió) 10:40, 19 January 2018 (UTC) reply

This redirect should be deleted. Contraction hierarchies are a part of some routing algorithms, often on road networks. "Highway hierarchy" however refers to something more general and intuitively understood, i.e. that some roads are larger, more important than others. There never was a game under this name; what eventually became of the spiritual sequel was Whore of the Orient. However, since the name is completely unofficial, it should be better deleted. Lordtobi ( ) 18:58, 11 January 2018 (UTC) reply

  • Comment: Target currently is at the Possible sequel section of the article. AngusWOOF ( barksniff) 22:20, 12 January 2018 (UTC) reply

The result of the discussion was retarget to List of L.A. Noire characters#Stefan Bekowsky. -- BDD ( talk) 18:18, 19 January 2018 (UTC) reply

Appears to be the only of its kind for L.A. Noire; since there is no detailed character description anywhere, and he is just a side character, this is a cruft-y ( WP:GAMECRUFT) redirect. Lordtobi ( ) 18:52, 11 January 2018 (UTC) reply

Not sure, but probably retarget to the disambiguation page, Founder. In my long experience disambiguating links to "Founder", a founder of something is more likely to refer to a business or organization. bd2412 T 17:55, 11 January 2018 (UTC) reply

  • Delete to allow Wikipedia's search function to help readers locate what they are looking for instead of forwarding them to a disambiguation page which may not include what they are trying to find. Steel1943 ( talk) 21:21, 11 January 2018 (UTC) reply
  • Delete per nom. It's difficult to figure out what founder the person is looking for. AngusWOOF ( barksniff) 22:10, 12 January 2018 (UTC) reply

Article was cruft and redirect contains no relevance to the article. Should be deleted. ZXCVBNM ( TALK) 04:57, 11 January 2018 (UTC) reply

  • Keep. It's possible that this article could someday return in proper, sourced form a la other articles in Category:Lists of Final Fantasy characters. In general there's no need and no gain from burying the revision history. SnowFire ( talk) 06:07, 11 January 2018 (UTC) reply
    • Per WP:TNT there could be a gain from deleting it and allowing it to be recreated in properly sourced fashion. ZXCVBNM ( TALK) 14:37, 11 January 2018 (UTC) reply
      • If someone wants to take a shot at resurrecting the article and the old article exists in the history, they're still free to ignore the history if they want; keeping the history allows them to pull as much or as little as required. More generally, I'm not a fan of burying history unless the article is blatantly unsalvageable - say, the List of FF4 locations redirect you nominated. If nothing else, there's no harm in having the history of what happened there for people poking around at what Wikipedia looked like in 2010 or whatever trying to find an article that existed than and existed happily for many years under the old standards of inclusion. SnowFire ( talk) 07:34, 13 January 2018 (UTC) reply
  • Comment: This redirect is a {{ R with history}}. Steel1943 ( talk) 21:26, 11 January 2018 (UTC) reply
  • Restore as an article and send to WP:AFD. Regardless of what recently happened at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Characters of Final Fantasy V, I still believe that is the best option. Steel1943 ( talk) 21:29, 11 January 2018 (UTC) reply
    • I think that is pretty clear consensus that if its merits are discussed it should be in RfD, given that it has remained a redirect so long. ZXCVBNM ( TALK) 14:04, 12 January 2018 (UTC) reply
  • Refine to Final Fantasy V#Characters where someone can read about the Characters of Final Fantasy V. We aren't discussing the "cruft" article, we are discussing a redirect. -- Tavix ( talk) 16:53, 12 January 2018 (UTC) reply
  • Keep - There should be the ability to clear the article up as a good article. it's clear from many RPG games that a stand alone article for the characters is viable if done correctly ( List of Persona 5 Characters, Characters of Final Fantasy VI, Characters of Final Fantasy X and X-2). Deleting the article and history would make it harder for an actual article to surface. Lee Vilenski ( talkcontribs) 10:42, 16 January 2018 (UTC) reply
  • Keep and refine per Tavix. Entirely plausible search term with a fitting section. -- BDD ( talk) 18:16, 19 January 2018 (UTC) reply
