Former American Eagle (ship)

The result of the discussion was delete. Unless I'm reading it wrong, the edit history pretty clearly states that this redirect was a result of a pagemove since that ship was never called "Former American Eagle." Given its youngness and the notes below that the dab target ships are likewise not referred that way, deletion is reasonable. The company produces other stuff, mostly online, e.g. Collider (website), resulting in undesirable outcomes like the infobox at that article listing Complex (the company) as the publisher, and the link going to a magazine's article, implying the website is a product of the magazine, but they are editorially unconnected in reality. The company itself is probably more notable than the magazine (which may be defunct), though possibly less so than Collider; the company is definitely more notable that various of its other properties about which we don't (and may never) have articles, like Trillera.com (whatever that is). Unfortunately, info about the company and its properties is being inappropriately WP:COATRACKed into Complex magazine's article. • Delete A Google search yields sources revealing that .DBC is a file extension associated with Blizzard Entertainment, as is .MPQ. That explains the rationale behind this redirect's creation even if it doesn't justify its target or its continuing existence. If the MPQ article doesn't explain .DBC files, and no one is about to come up with text to cover it there, then the redirect is of no use, especially if .DBC has other referents, in which case MPQ and Blizzard Entertainment may both not be primary topics for ".DBC". The word "Classic" is nowhere in the target article. Looks as though this title refers to a specific possibly annual sports match involving this university, but at the present time, the connection is unclear due to lack of coverage in the target article. Steel1943 ( talk) 15:02, 20 February 2018 (UTC) reply

Its why I had created a redirect, not an article. I thought of leaving it down the line in case the thing becomes notable enough, given enough years. Artix Kreiger ( talk) 15:09, 20 February 2018 (UTC) reply
IMO, this title has more of a WP:REDLINK situation unless an appropriate place to mention the redirect (possibly in its own section or a section about sports) is added to the article. Then, the redirect can probably reasonably stay, and possibly even be tagged with {{ R with possibilities}}. Steel1943 ( talk) 16:55, 20 February 2018 (UTC) reply

The term "sliding" is not mentioned in the target article. .DBC is the name of several file formats, not mentioned at current target, couldn't find any appropriate target. Paradoctor ( talk) 00:17, 9 February 2018 (UTC) reply

  • Keep, although it may be better to move the article to "Winter activity" for clarification. The article does kind of cover other non-sport winter activities, including building snowmen and "winter activity" is bolded in the lede as if they are synonyms. -- Tavix ( talk) 18:03, 20 February 2018 (UTC) reply

The term "sliding" is not mentioned in the target article. In addition, per research, it seems that the phrase "sliding sport" refers exclusively to either Skeleton (sport) or Bobsleigh; the current target of these redirects, Winter sport, refers to more sports than those two. Steel1943 ( talk) 14:00, 20 February 2018 (UTC) reply

  • The three Olympic "sliding sports" of Skeleton, Bobsleigh and Luge are forms of sledding, so retarget Sliding sport and Sliding sports there. Delete the ones with hyphens and no spaces, these forms are never used. -- Tavix ( talk) 14:54, 20 February 2018 (UTC) reply
  • Retarget Sliding sport and Sliding sports to sledding and delete others per Tavix's recommendations. It looks like the three Olympic sports have been mentioned in the opening paragraph of the article since 2010, maybe earlier but there were a lot of back-and-forth edits back then.
