Random regions of Quebec (not cities, but areas the province delivers services in that cover large rural areas and include cities) much like the US counties and Indian districts we already deleted. Too narrow a topic. We have Portal:Quebec and portals on the major cities already. As an alternative to deletion I tried redirecting but was quickly reverted by someone stalking my edits, so just delete. These are older, not WP:X3. For precedent see Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/US County Portals which Deleted 64 similar portals and Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Districts of India Portals which Deleted 30 similar Portals. - Comment. [Edit conflict; comment refers only to Portal:Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean] No strong opinion on this particular portal. However it should be mentioned that the nominator previously tried to redirect this to the article, with the summary "Article is better then this" but was reverted. This is not a fully automated portal from a template, but was created manually in 2010. That said, the current content is inadequate with only one selected article, one selected biography and one selected image (unless the auto-portal group have deleted the subpages), but there's several hundred articles in the category and its subcats that could be drawn from to improve it. - These are a bit larger than US counties, aren't they? Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean: 274,880 people & 98,710 sq km cf, say (a random pick), Imperial County, California: 174,528 & 11,610 sq km. (The comparison with the Indian districts is less useful, because the main problem there is underdeveloped content.)

- I'm more familiar with Regional Districts in British Columbia, which these seem to be very similar too, but Quebec often does things a little different. Regional Districts (and Regions in Quebec it seems) are a geographic area that includes incorporated cities and unincorporated rural areas around them. 100% of the province falls within a region, while only more densely populated areas fall within a city or municipality. The nearest US equivilant is a typical US county. The first one includes the City of Saguenay population 143,692 and a WHOLE lot of rural area around it. Quebec, like most of Canada, has some vast areas with plenty of trees and bears and not much else. Some regions have much larger populations. In BC for example, Metro Vancouver Regional District inludes Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, New Westminster, North Vancouver and more. Most of the top population municipalities fall into one regional district and the next few are in two adjoining regional districts. Legacypac ( talk) 05:40, 26 March 2019 (UTC)

- Delete - The subjects do appear to be the equivalent of US counties and Indian districts. They were not created during the splurge of portal creation, but earlier; however, it appears that the author who created the portals has not been active for more than one-and-one-half years, so that no one is maintaining the portals in any real way. - Delete. The regions of Quebec aren't a level at which portals are really all that badly needed — they make some sense for countries, states or provinces, but less so at a county or region level. Even though consensus didn't actually land on the side of completely blowing the whole portal system up when that was proposed for discussion last year, we did end up settling on a consensus to review the criteria for where they are or aren't needed, how well they do or don't need to be maintained, and on and so forth, and to get rid of some of the underperforming ones. Not everything or everyone who exists always needs a portal alongside their main article, and overly narrowcasted portals that aren't actually being maintained or used don't really need to stick around.
