Two examples of works by Alexander Archipenko being used in a WP:DECORATIVE manner in Alexander Archipenko#Gallery which fails WP:NFCC#1 ( WP:FREER), WP:NFCC#8 ( WP:NFC#CS) and WP:NFCC#3a ( WP:NFG). Both of these files are being used in an image gallery of representative examples of Archipenko's work. There are 21 other examples being used in said gallery and all of those files are freely licensed. Non-free files are pretty much not allowed to used like this in image galleries per NFG, and there's really no real way to justify using 2 non-free files in a image gallery that includes 21 total images. In addition to the files in the image gallery, there are 5 more freely licensed examples of Archipenko's work being used throughout the body of article; so, moving the 2 non-free files to somewhere else in the article doesn't really make since since there's no need for them in addition to other 26 freely licensed examples, and there is no sourced critical commentary about either of the two non-free works anywhere else in the article (they don't even seemed to have been mentioned by name) as required by NFC#CS. The only way I can see for possibly keeping these would be that they don't need to be treated as non-free for some reason and their respective licensing can be converted to a free or PD license; otherwise, there's no justification for their non-free use. For reference, both of these files were uploaded more than ten years ago, and perhaps at that time their non-free use was justified; however, given the number of other files currently being used in the article, it's also hard to justify these per FREER since there a more than a sufficient number of free equivalents being used as representative examples of Archipenko's work. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 01:16, 6 August 2022 (UTC) reply

• Keep both and fix copyright labels I see no evidence that these works were ever copyrighted. A search of copyright records doesn't yield any results matching these works of art or their collections. Since both predate 1966, {{ PD-US-no notice}} would apply.   • I've asked about the "PD-US-no notice" possibility at c:COM:VPC. If that's the case, then the file showing the litograph probably is OK to relicense as you suggest. The other file, however, might not be so easily resolved since it's a photo of a 3D work of art, and the photos of 3D works of art tend to be eligible for the own copyirght protection separate of the work that's photographed. For that reason alone, it might be impossible to keep the file without the consent of the person who took the photo, and it couldn't be kept as non-free if the work is still on display and can still be photographed. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 01:47, 9 August 2022 (UTC) reply

This specific image is not needed, as it doesn't greatly improve the Chinese paddlefish to see a specific images of its organs (which are barely mentioned on this article). Thus, it fails WP:NFCC#8: Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. • Keep. There are almost no images of the fish itself that are not dry taxidermies, whether fresh or in fluid. It would be essentially impossible to take an equivalent non-free version of this image due to the fish now being extinct. This is a pretty obscure close-up that has little liklihood of commercial significance (as opposed to the images of the full fish lying on the shore, which have been constantly used in news articles for instance). Robertsky, sorry for the late response. Thank you for working on Singapore Portrait Series currency notes. So after taking a closer look at the article I don't think the reverse of any of the notes is needed there as there is no critical commentary on that part as required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. For most notes the only sources relevant to the note are http://www.mas.gov.sg/currency/currency_info/notes/portrait_series/ (which is a primary source, likely doesn't count as critical commentary) and "The Presidential Notes – Field Book : President Yusof bin Ishak and the Portrait Notes" by Stella Koh "for BCCS" which is the Board of Commissioners of Currency Singapore which redirects to Monetary Authority of Singapore. Only the descriptions for the $10 and $10,000 notes have a source other than those two.
I added a composite image to the top for identification (which also includes the $10 note) and left the $10,000 note front image in Singapore Portrait Series currency notes#$10,000 banknote but removed the rest.
