Previously publicized in Obituary at Legacy.com on June 18, 2014. Debresser ( talk) 12:27, 1 September 2017 (UTC) reply
That image could be a cropped version of what is uploaded here. It was published after the upload to Wikipedia. Also, the file is missing the author/copyright owner. —  JJMC89( T· C) 18:40, 1 September 2017 (UTC) reply
DeBresser, thanks. I had thought it was up somewhere, but I couldn't remember where it was. Searching through obituaries was difficult for me, since they are about my father's death. JJMC89, what else is it that you want fixed so you can, if possible, remove the notice saying you might want to delete the image? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.244.131.211 ( talk) 01:55, 2 September 2017 (UTC) reply
If it helps, here are the details of the photo. It was taken quite a few years ago as a publicity photo for my father, to use for talks, conferences, and other public purposes. The photo is owned by my family [Edit: My understanding is that this was the agreement when the photos were taken, that they were for publicity purposes and could be used however he wished]. It was taken either by a family member or by a professional photographer in a portrait studio such as those found in Sears. Given the number of years that have passed since the photo was taken, the family does not remember if one of us took it or if it was taken in a studio. After my parents passed away, ownership of my father's publicity photos went to their children. At the time of my father's death, my family decided I would have ownership of the photo posted here so I could upload it to Wikipedia and other such places. According to the history for the page, the approval process for the photo was completed five days after my father's death. I'm afraid I don't recall the details of that correspondence with the Wiki editors, or if we even had a correspondence; my family was dealing with memorial arrangements during what was a difficult time for us, so it is all a bit of a blur. Let me know if you need any more details. Best regards -- Catherine Asaro 96.244.131.211 ( talk) 03:27, 2 September 2017 (UTC) reply

Image is claimed to be licensed as Open Government License as it is material under UK Crown Copyright. However, the OGL licensing template specifically calls out that not all UK government institutions are covered by the OGL and there are exempted entities that manage their own copyright. In particular, the Ministry of Defence is one of these exempt institutions. This particular image is from the MoD and is not covered by OGL. The EXIF data contains explicit usage terms: "Crown Copyright: This image may be used for current news purpose only. It may not be used, reproduced or transmitted for any other purpose without first obtaining a copyright license available from the MoD, Crown Copyright Unit. ipr-cc@dpa.mod.uk" Whpq ( talk) 17:53, 31 August 2017 (UTC) reply

You did not provide a URL to the source for the photo. Can you provide that? Although the EXIF says the image is Crown Copyright, the image may have been subsequently released under OGL but we would need the source page to see what licensing terms were made there. -- Whpq ( talk) 20:12, 31 August 2017 (UTC) reply
I found the image on the RAF website. It is under Crown Copyright based on the page information and terms and conditions stated on the site. -- Whpq ( talk) 12:51, 1 September 2017 (UTC) reply
