This image is virtually illegible at the resolution posted. It is impossible for the author of the image to have created it at such a low resolution. I find it hard to imagine that the creator of the original image would not want some form of connection to their work, for it to be legible, for them to be known, for their work to be known or found, etc. The image looks as if it has been copied from an online source and posted without permission or attribution. No indication that the uploader is the original copyright holder. If they are, then OTRS should be sent a permissions email per WP:CONSENT. If they are not, then this is most likely non-free content and should be converted to such. The problem with doing that, however, is that file does not satisfy WP:NFCCP for the way it is currently being used in Father Saturnino Urios University - Arbp. Carmelo D.F. Morelos Campus#Notable Events at the Morelos Campus. Finally, based upon Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2016 May 4#File:Robinsons Place Butuan-Logo.png, User talk:Ronald Galope Barniso#File:Main Fire from Polysports.jpg as well as that the fact that the uploader created their account on May 4, 2016 and has uploaded more than 50 image files since then, there is a chance that there might be other files with licensing problems that might need some clean up. Non-free logo is being used in Shahrdari Tabriz F.C. and Shahrdari Tabriz FSC. A non-free use rationale is provided, but it seems to be an attempt to combine two uses into a single rationale which is something not really allowed per WP:NFCC#10c. There this is a possible problem with No. 17 of WP:NFC#UUI. The "parent entity" in this case seems to be the Shahrdari Tabriz Cultural and Athletic Club which does not have a stand-alone article. "Shahrdari Tabriz F.C." claims that it is the team that Shahrdari Tabriz FSC is most widely known for, so that seems to make it the "parent" entity and the futsal team the "child entity. On the other hand, "Shahrdari Tabriz FSC" claims that it is the team that the Shahrdari Tabriz Cultural and Athletic Club is most widely known for which would make it the "parent entity". The consensuses for similar FFD and NFCR discussions have been that non-free usage is only OK in the parent entity's article and I think that should also be the case here. Comment: The URL given as the source for the file seems to have been re-registered, but I was able to find this January 2011 archived version. File was uploaded in December 2010, so this might acceptable for verifying the source. The page is in Farsi, but the logo can be seen. A Google translation of the page and the url address seem to indicate that "Shanrdari Tabriz F.C." is the parent per UUI#17 in this particular case, which means that the file should be removed from "Shahdari Tabriz FSC" based upon previous FFD consensuses. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 01:25, 13 May 2016 (UTC) reply

Violates WP:NFCC#3 because it is very high-resolution and very detailed. So, I went ahead and uploaded File:Apple tvOS screenshot.jpg which is smaller. (I chose JPEG because it gave superior size for equal quality to PNG.) But User:Aspects reverted the change, well, because he prefers the large and shiny NFCC-violating version. Keep:: I believe that the image I downloaded is in fair use. Assuming that it is fair use, then it should be kept. Its presence in the article is properly justified, contrary to the previous editor's assessment. I disagree that the image fails the criteria of WP:NFCC#8. The image is clearly necessary for readers to identify the individual who is being discussed in the article. Deleting the image will do readers a disservice. The image in no way will hurt the image's owner's commercial opportunities, but rather provide him access to a wider audience, by allowing the Blaine's likenesses to be seen by readers who would otherwise be unaware of his work. This is an article about a group of personalities who made up a closely-knit circle of session musicians who have been much-talked about as of late. I have chosen certain photographs of key people who are recognized as playing crucial roles regarding the ensemble. Hal Blaine is pictured because he coined the term "Wrecking Crew" is often considered their de facto "ring-leader"--not only for his peerless musicianship and band leadership skills, but also his penchant for jokes and humor, which have become the stuff of legend. By the way, it is he that wrote the first book about them, so he has probably done more than anyone else to bring them to the world's attention. The Wrecking Crew is intrinsic to his story--just as he is usually the first name that comes to mind when discussing the Wrecking Crew's story. Therefore, his picture is absolutely necessary for inclusion in the article. I also chose a photograph of Phil Spector, because it was work with the group that brought them to preeminence in the recording world--so his role is absolutely key. And keep in mind that Wrecking Crew, in turn, were essential to Spector's "Wall of Sound". No comprehensive article about the Wrecking Crew should fail to include his picture. In fact, it was from an article about the Wrecking Crew (in Wall Street Journal) that I took the photo (not an article about Phil Spector)--this picture is really so much about them. The Wall Street Journal could have selected from a variety of other photographs, but chose this one because it is so fundamental to our understanding of the Wrecking Crew. By the way, Sonny Bono is pictured in there as well, along with other members of the Wrecking Crew, so it is not just a picture of Phil Spector. I tried to find photos taken in the 1960s to give the reader a feel for time and place and help establish a meaningful context. I want the reader to be able to visualize what it must have been like being there. So, I believe that these photos are essential to achieving that end and that the article would be badly diminished without their inclusion. I ask for your understanding. I have put a lot of work into this article and am trying to do what is best for the article. These pictures are so necessary to help illustrate and educate concerning this topic. Remove: We don't need to see an image of Blaine to appreciate the statements that he coined the term "Wrecking Crew" or had a good sense of humor. Fails WP:NFCC#8.

If this particular photo is quintessential to depictions of the band as you say, then it might pass. By quintessential I mean what Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is to the Battle of Iwo Jima (and even that photo doesn't pass in the latter article, because the photo has its own; if it didn't it would). Even then, the appearance of this particular photo needs to be discussed in reliable sources, and those discussions need to be referenced in the article. Only then does the reader need to see the photo to understand what is discussed. That the WSJ used this photo, and mentioning this, alone would not be enough: you'd need to reference how the WSJ and other sources discuss this photo. A photo being the object of sourced, critical commentary meets WP:NFCC#8, but choosing a photo for "a feel for time and place" does not. – Finnusertop ( talk ⋅ contribs) 03:16, 13 May 2016 (UTC) reply

Remove: I disagree with Garagepunk66's assessment and also don't think this usage satisfies NFCC#8. I don't understand why the reader needs to see this particular photo to understand "Hal Blaine was one of the "first call" session drummers with the Wrecking Crew and is usually credited for coining the term 'Wrecking Crew' to describe the unit". What exactly about that caption requires the picture? The same information and reference can be added to the article content with no loss of information without the photo. The cited source does not specifically discuss the photo itself; it even uses another photo to identify Blaine. In addition, Blaine is mentioned by name about 10 times in the body of the article and I do not see anything that requires this image be seen to understand any of that, so that removing the photo will not be detrimental to the reader's overall understanding of either Blaine or the Wrecking Crew. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 05:17, 13 May 2016 (UTC) reply

Keep Picture, but allow its use it in Blaine's Article: I understand that we will not be able to use the picture in the Wrecking Crew article, so I can gracefully accept that. I am not an expert Wiki photo policy--I am primarily a writer. So, in order to save the photo, I have removed it from the Wrecking Crew article and placed it in Hal Blaine's article, where I put it in the info box, depicting Blaine at the pinnacle of his career in the 1960s. Now you're basically claiming that the file is being used to identify Blaine, but there was a freely licensed version from Commons already being used in the infobox for that purpose. The non-free photo now also fails WP:NFCC#1. I simply do not see any way to write a valid non-free use rationale for such a use. This image of Blaine depicts him at the pinnacle of his career during the 1960s, when he and the Wrecking Crew were active and at the top of their game. It serves the purpose better than the later photo, but I have placed the later photo further down the page to portray him at different stages of his career. The article about Blaine is not just about him when he was at the top of his game, it's about him in his entirety. If your proposed solution was all that was needed to remove the NFCC#1 concerns, then the same line of reasoning could be pretty much applied to any BLP article for anyone considered to be past the pinnacle of their career. A non-free image could probably only be justified in this case if there was something so remarkable about Blaine's appearance at the time that it he received coverage in reliable sources for it. Is that the case? I have no debate against the article reflecting his whole career--I think it should. I had just said that the article can now have two images: one earlier and one later--best reflecting the whole from two different poles. The picture in the top info box shows him in the context in he is most remembered (the heyday in the 60s with the Wrecking Crew), and the one at the bottom shows him in the 90s. I don't for a minute advocate removing the bottom photo, just as I hope no one would advocate we remove the picture from the top. We can include both. Non-free content is required to satisfy all 10 of the non-free content criteria. Using the photo to indentify Blaine in the infobox is something not really allowed per NFCC#1. This is something that has been discussed quite a lot at NFCR and FFD, and the established consensus is not to allow it. Moreover, your argument of showing Blaine in the context in which he is most remembered would only satisfy NFCC#8 if that was something being said by a reliable source, not you. How you interpret the picture is your original research or your synthesis of sources or your knowledge about Blaine. As Finnusertop pointed out above, it is the photo itself, not Blaine, which should be discussed by reliable sources; otherwise, any old photo taken roughly around the same time could be just as easily used which means usage is primarily decorative not contextual. The information you get from that picture is that Blaine is playing the drums which is the basically the same information you get from the free version. KEEP: I believe that this image is in fair use. Assuming that it is fair use, then it should be kept. Its presence in the article is properly justified, contrary to the previous editor's assessment, because it is necessary so that readers can identify the people who are being discussed in the article. The image will in no way hurt its owners' commercial opportunities, but rather grant them access to a wider audience via greater recognition of their subjects' likenesses. For these reasons I contend that there is noting in the image fails the criteria of WP:NFCC#8. I ask that the image be retained. I agree, an English-language poster should be used. There is somewhat of a consensus to that end at Template talk:Infobox film/doc#Specific guide for film posters. Keep I quickly found the image at [6] from the linked page (appears to be a crop of [7] also from the linked page). I also quickly found the post from July 7, 2014 where the subject of the photo claims that all images on the page are in the public domain and asks anyone to please put one on Wikipedia (by searching for "Public Domain" in the "Search for posts on this Page" feature). The uncropped image states "Here's one Sarah McIntyre took of me in Dubai, plotting to take over the world." If the subject asked for the picture to be taken, then they may well be the copyright holder and able to release it into the Public Domain.
