The album cover is being used in the musical group's infobox to show what the musical group looked like and not as means of identification of the album itself, thereby failing WP:NFCI#Images #1. The album cover has an incorrect rationale because it states that its purpose is "to serve as the primary means of visual identification at the top of the article dedicated to the work in question." and its minimal use is "The file illustrates an educational article about the album from which the illustration was taken. It is used as the primary means of visual identification of the album.", when the article in question is about the musical group and not the album. Aspects ( talk) 10:36, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- The image of the musical group is embedded within the overall image which is a piece of cover art taken from their album. It is not one or the other, i.e a picture of the group OR a picture of the album - it is both. Secondly, the album they made is part of the article and is covered in the last section and discography. Thirdly, the image of the group is historical, from the 1970s, and nothing more recent is available. For these reasons the image is fair use. There are only two images I can find that are available that do not include the album. One is probably too small and would be hard to see, the other is of poor quality. That is why this image was chosen, as it is the best available pictorial representation of the group that therefore gives the reader the fullest appreciation of who they were and the music they created. The rationale accompanying the image can be amended.
