Reason: I tried to create an account with a similar name (Divided.Eye), but was denied because "The name "Divided.Eye" is too similar to the following username: Dividedeye". I checked the SUL info page for that users account, and it turns out that the account was created on 1 September, 2007, which is also the last (only) time that the user was active. Divided.Eye is the moniker that I use for a lot of my online accounts [on other sites], so I would like to continue using that name here as well. The owner of the account Dividedeye has only made 2 total edits (1 edit, 1 deletion). Considering that the account has not been active for 7 years, I think it's only fair to give the account to someone who wants to use that name... someone who will actually use it (me). If I can't take over/usurp the account, I would like to request that an exception be made in this case to allow me to create a similarly-named account (Divided.Eye). I tried placing an account request, but was denied because "it implies that more than one person may use the account as it appears to be the name of a filming company. Wikipedia's policy is that a user account should be used only by one person and that one person should use only one account in most cases." I have no affiliation with this company whatsoever, and when I did a search for the company's webpage, I found that the site no longer even exists (which suggests that the company doesn't, either). I don't even have a Wikipedia account yet, so there's no danger of "multiple people using one account." Long story short: I would like to use a similar account name, and feel that it's unfair to block me from creating said account (or deny my request to usurp the inactive account) just because some user created it 7 years before me. As for the notion that the account name I tried to create "implies that more than one person may use the account"--if the reasoning is that the name includes the word "divided," a quick search of the Users database shows that there are many other names starting with that word... so I don't think that line of reasoning has merit. As far as I know, de.wiki is very strict about not usurping accounts that have edits. You'd have to ask at de:WP:USURP. As for the other accounts, you either need to contact local bureaucrats via m:RENAMELINKS or ask at m:SR/SUL.
As regards 'Ick', I would ask you to first seek usurp at ru:ВП:ЗУ as they have best claim to name 'Ick' (also I think they don't usurp accounts with more than 5 edits?). – xeno ^talk 19:20, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
