Another option, I suppose, would be to rename "A.V.R-Team" to something similar to "Alcante" (like "Alcante (alt)") so that it more closely identifies your old account with your new one. Oppose - I agree with TenOfAllTrades - we need to understand what's going on with this user - and what (if anything) the repercussions should be for his recent (seemingly) disturbing behavior. When these issues have been resolved - and presuming that a long-duration block is not imposed as a result - then I'd have no problem in supporting a "Clean start" user name change. Before that happens, we shouldn't confuse the issue for the people involved in checking the facts by allowing a change of user name. Moreover, I'm pretty sure this user wouldn't want the first notable thing to happen to his shiney new persona to be a long-duration block...which could easily happen as events unfold. Two days ago, you were still making statements standing behind the authenticity of the image and promising us fresh scans of the document ( [1], [2]). Yes, people around here get upset when you Photoshop primary source documents to support your mistaken recollections in content disputes. That type of conduct was a gross abuse of the community's trust; it will take a long time for you to make up for it. In the meantime, you shouldn't find it surprising that some editors feel it necessary to review your history, nor that they don't want that history muddled by a name change right now. Clerks, please note that there are some serious concerns about this editor's possible falsification of primary source material as well as issues around copyright. As well, there was a recent checkuser-confirmed false claim about his account being compromised, which he had used to excuse some disruptive editing and block evasion (See User talk:Drew R. Smith#Indef block). Since all that stuff is just from the last two weeks, it may not be a good idea to go ahead with the username change until those issues are laid to rest. Oppose - I agree with TenOfAllTrades - we need to understand what's going on with this user - and what (if anything) the repercussions should be for his recent (seemingly) disturbing behavior. When these issues have been resolved - and presuming that a long-duration block is not imposed as a result - then I'd have no problem in supporting a "Clean start" user name change. Before that happens, we shouldn't confuse the issue for the people involved in checking the facts by allowing a change of user name. Moreover, I'm pretty sure this user wouldn't want the first notable thing to happen to his shiney new persona to be a long-duration block...which could easily happen as events unfold. People are just now '[causing] a stink about it' because your forgery was only discovered a few days ago. Two days ago, you were still making statements standing behind the authenticity of the image and promising us fresh scans of the document ( [1], [2]). Yes, people around here get upset when you Photoshop primary source documents to support your mistaken recollections in content disputes. That type of conduct was a gross abuse of the community's trust; it will take a long time for you to make up for it. In the meantime, you shouldn't find it surprising that some editors feel it necessary to review your history, nor that they don't want that history muddled by a name change right now.
