Yes, a dev needs to run a cleanup script. When they do this is entirely up to them and I'm fairly sure they only do it for rename breakages, not account mergers. MBisanztalk 12:13, 11 July 2011 (UTC)reply

Reason: I wish to change because Johanneswiberg might not read as a first name + surname in other languages than Swedish (my first language) and I just want it to be clear that it's not just a string of random letters but rather my actual name.

Reason: Met with a Wikipedia expert and was advised to use personal accounts rather than company wide accounts. Rather change this account name to my personal name instead of creating a new one and letting the username "Indianapolis Motor Speedway" float around. Thank you.

Heh, certainly a valid query. Every so often I forget about / take a break from whatever thing I had been working on here—when I last did this I was mostly doing newpage / recent edit patrol (hence the rollback privileges). I do, of course, intend to pick this work up again.

Robot clerk note: I have detected the following problems:
The requested username is already registered; see Special:Listusers. However, as this requested account has made no edits, it meets the criteria for being usurped; if you wish to usurp it, please read and follow the process at
Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. If you do not wish to usurp the username, please choose another name to be renamed to.
Bureaucrat note: If you are renamed and make 4,000 more edits, you will have more than 50,000 edits and be unable to be renamed again. Is that ok? MBisanztalk 00:42, 11 July 2011 (UTC)reply
Certainly. That is actually a factor as to why I want the rename before hitting that mark. --
Catchi? 00:44, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

とある白い猫chi? 02:29, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up. What would be the procedure at this point? A dev running an sql command to carry out the action? Also while not critical but while at it - would deleted edits be also attributed? I have leftovers from older account too (
Special:Contributions/Cool_Cat). Thanks. --
とある白い猫chi? 11:10, 11 July 2011 (UTC)reply
Yes, a dev needs to run a cleanup script. When they do this is entirely up to them and I'm fairly sure they only do it for rename breakages, not account mergers. MBisanztalk 12:13, 11 July 2011 (UTC)reply
It should be given a few weeks before finding a developer. Could just be waiting in the job queue. –
