I've been involved in some heated discussions recently, and I'm worried that this might spill out into the real world. For example, I'm apllying for jobs at the moment. If a prospective employer were to Google me and were to read all of the discussions on the RD then it wouldn't look too good. From
Isotype revisited (
talk) 18:51, 22 September 2009 (UTC): I think that the CoI warning and initial CoI header tag (now removed) on the page
Isotype (picture language) were triggered by my username being identical with that of a website in the external links of that page: www.isotyperevisited.org, which has just gone live and so can be checked for its neutrality. I can understand the principle of this, and don't want it to keep happening to me, given that my contributions under this username will generally all pertain to that subject. So it may be advisable to change my username.reply

Reason: Reason for requested renaming. I would like to change it because in the online world I am known as RabidMelon with a capital M. When asked what my account names are on different sites I say RabidMelon with a capital M, but now I have to tell them that my wikipedia acount is actually with a lowercase m and because of this they can never remember which accounts are with a lowercase m and which accounts are with an uppercase M. It would be really great if you could change the lowercase m to an uppercase M so that it is RabidMelon instead of Rabidmelon.

Reason: I started off editing under my real name. But then decided to edit under Dr Dec. I registered the username and set up redirects from the Dr Dec user space to my own. I've been involved in some heated discussions recently, and I'm worried that this might spill out into the real world. For example, I'm apllying for jobs at the moment. If a prospective employer were to Google me and were to read all of the discussions on the RD then it wouldn't look too good. I've been signing my posts as Dr Dec for several months now, so there wouldn't be a problem of me being misidentified by the community. I've already mentioned this to
Anonymous Dissident and s/he said that it sounds like a reasonable request (see
here).

Reason: To avoid the conflict of interest tag appearing on the principal page I have edited, 'Isotype (picture language)'. My previous username is the name of an academic research project (non-commercial) that happens to partly bear the name of its historical subject, Isotype. The article I have contributed as a representative of this project is neutral in tone and serves solely to educate. Unfortunately it triggered an automatic conflict of interest tag, which I did not realize would happen

SoxBotBeta has evaluated this request, and renaming appears to be possible.

Clerk note: It might be possible to get it so that there won't be any CoI tags when you edit that article. I'm not sure how it works; I've never been tagged with it when editing
Soap, or when writing the word "soap" into other articles, and likewise I haven't had problems on my alternate account
3centsoap either, even when making edits like
this. Would you still want to change your name anyway, even if the edit filter tags could be fixed? -- SoapTalk/Contributions 20:33, 20 September 2009 (UTC)reply
Clerk note: The tag was added by this user:
98.248.33.198, it doesn't seem to be an automated event. Metty 23:24, 20 September 2009 (UTC)reply
I think there might be some confusion here between the
edit filter tag and the warning that was placed on Isotype's
talk page. I hadn't seen that before, and am not sure what either of them meant when they mentioned tags. -- SoapTalk/Contributions 23:28, 20 September 2009 (UTC)reply
Clerk note: I don't see a potential COI with the original username.--

From
Isotype revisited (
talk) 18:51, 22 September 2009 (UTC): I think that the CoI warning and initial CoI header tag (now removed) on the page
Reason: I've already changed my user name on the italian wikipedia. I don't like my old name anymore.

Bureaucrat note: Thanks for the reason. Please log into your italian account and post on your talkpage (in English!) that you approve of this change. Then come back here and post a diff. You might also want to grab the

Reason: User LadyofShalott suggested that I should change my username from Cristinaverganothepainter because my username represents a artist that I created a wikipedia article for. My current username appears that I am Cristina Vergano, which I am not, I'm just a fan of her art. Thank you for change changing my username.

Sure am. It's been on my User: page since I've had the account and I have had no problems thus far. I'm comfortable with it. Thank you! –
