Ann Heneghan

I have felt uneasy for some time about using my real name on Wikipedia, especially since I edit on some very controversial subjects. I have also had some very nasty threatening messages sent to my talk page, with hints of finding out my real address and sending me a letter bomb in the post. (These messages came from anonymous IP addresses, and from users who created the accounts specially to target me. In all cases, they were promptly blocked.) Also, my RfA is just coming to an end, and will almost certainly be successful, unless I get about seventeen oppose votes in the next fourteen hours. And I have noticed that admins get a lot more threatening messages than ordinary users. I would like to changed my account name from Ann Heneghan to Musical Linguist. I'm not aiming for 100% anonymity. I will inform the other users who edit on the same pages, though in some cases I may inform them by private e-mail. I just think it would be a good idea to have more anonymity than I have at present.

I know that admins are supposed to say that they're admins when requesting name changes, as extra changes have to be made in such cases. All I can say is that I believe I'm very likely to be an admin by this time tomorrow. However, if it makes things easier for the bureaucrat who carries out this change for me, I'm quite happy not to get my "new tools" until after it has been done. Many thanks. ASusnjar to Aleksandar Šušnjar

I registered with my current username (Asusnjar) before realizing that it is searchable, appears publically and has its own article. I'd like to change it to "Aleksandar Šušnjar" or "Aleksandar Susnjar" if only ASCII characters are allowed. Thank you! User:Asusnjar | talk, 18:37, 30 November 2005 (UTC) reply

I would like to change all edits from my User:Jongarrettuk to User:Jguk.. Many thanks, jguk 14:19, 19 November 2005 (UTC) reply

I'm afraid we can only move edits to a nonexistent account. — Dan | Talk 02:54, 22 November 2005 (UTC) reply
Oh, never mind, I think I understand - at first I thought the period was a typo. To be sure, however, could you confirm that the username to which you want them moved is "Jguk."? — Dan | Talk 03:11, 22 November 2005 (UTC) reply

Confirmed. I have long wanted to remove my real name from WP credits, hence this request, jguk 07:50, 26 November 2005 (UTC) reply

Might I suggest something less confusing, like user:Jguk 2 (or something along those lines). That period could easily escape notice, or worse, could be confused with someone impersonating you. Raul654 01:14, 27 November 2005 (UTC) reply

I don't intend to use the account, just hide my real name a wee bit more! jguk 10:39, 27 November 2005 (UTC) reply

I see someone has already tried impersonating me by creating the account User:Jguk.. I'm quite happy with User:Jguk 2 (or indeed any other sensible name that uses "jguk" and not my real name, jguk 18:39, 8 December 2005 (UTC) reply

Changed to Jguk 2. — Dan | talk

JaroX

As soon as I created my account I noticed I wrote it wrong and decided to come here and straighten the name issue right from User:Jlarnos to User:JLarnos. But when I read what had happened to Jossifresco I got a bit scared and really wouldn't like to show my surname around, so I'd like my username to something less personal like User:JaroX. -- JaroX 21:10, 13 December 2005 (GMT+2)

Cleon Teunissen

I would like to have my user name User:Cleon_Teunissen changed to User:Cleonis
The edit counter rates me at 1300 edits so far.
Admittedly, there is no pressing necessity.
I created my user account in the beginning of 2005. I did not anticipate that wikipedia allows Google to also search and index the Talk pages, I was quite surprised to start finding myself in Google searches. My current user name is my full name. I'd like better privacy, so if possible please change my user name, so that in due course the Google caches will no longer have pages featuring my name. -- Cleon Teunissen | Talk 00:34, 14 December 2005 (UTC) reply

Apjake

I respectfully request that my username be changed to User:Search4Lancer. My current username, Apjake, not only incorporates my first name, but it is a username that I have not been known by on any other site for years, and I haven't the slightest idea what got into my head to make it my username here. I think it was because I wasn't expecting to be as active as I am and plan to be in the Wikipedia community. My edit count is enough that I don't want to lose all those edits. Thanks! ALC Washington

I'd like to change my username because it contains my first initial and full last name, and because I use it as a handle elsewhere. Like those who came before me, I cam concerned about Google searches. With time, caches with my current use name would disappear on Google. It would also allow me to more freely edit pages about Washington think tanks and schools without worrying about issues within the workplace. At the moment, I don't feel free to do so. So, if possible, I would like it changed to ALC Washington. Thanks a lot. Aconnelly 20:24, 16 December 2005 (UTC) reply

Jossifresco

Since becoming an admin and being very active in RC patrol fighting vandalism of Wikipedia I started receiving a large number of hate email, some of which are quite frightening in their tone. My current user name is also my real name and I am concerned for my privacy. I would kindly request to chage it to User:jossi or user:jossif if not available. Please note that I have more than 9,000 edits, and I know this may be a problem, but I need to do something about it before something bad happens. ≈ jossi fresco ≈ t@ 16:59, 13 December 2005 (UTC) reply
