A user just approached me, that he has forgotten his password, but the system is not sending him a new password.
I guess, that there is a typing error in his email-address. Can a developer check this, or what has he to do to get access again to his account?
The user requesting this: de:Benutzer:Caliga
His email address (as he wrote on my talk-page on de): pw@caligamedia.de
Thanks for help :-)

Thanks for your help, but i am sorry, it didn't solve my problem. The system (repeatedly) told me it sent a message to my address, but i received none. I have a catchall on both domains, so I receive every mail to these domains. Also, there is no SPAM filter on the server, i receive up to 100 a day... (Just a virus filter). As Danimilkasahne had the same problem, i wondered if there is a general problem with "private" (or uncommon) domains?!? Of course you can send me a new password directly (that would be nice ;) ), but somehow i have the feeling there is a general problem. --Caliga
If I may intervene on the technical side: there is absolutely no difference between "uncommon" and "common" domains. Mostly faults are either directly at the software of the sending or receiving end; the way in between is next to irrelevant. Next to no errors happen there. --
towo
Well, i know there is no technical difference, but i thought it might be possible, that only "trusted" domains (e.g. big players) are allowed. of course that does not fit the wikipedia spirit :) anyway... i think i can handle that "send new password" button and also i never had the feeling, that emails that i should receive got lost. also i tried it repeatedly, but i never received a new password. (forgotten signature: --Caliga)
Servus, I have the same Problem de:Benutzer:Danimilkasahne : wik@danimilkasahne.de. Thanks for Help - Daniel

I have come back to Wikipedia after a long absence and have found that my password to my User Account (Scot stevenson) does not work anymore and the system does not send me my a new password. The new password should go to scot@possum.in-berlin.de . Failing this, I would be grateful if this page could be deleted so I can sign in all over again. Thanks, Scot
This is possibly because you set it to scot@possum.NOSPAM.in-berlin.de . This is definitely not the best way to avoid spam. Wikipedia users avoid spam by specifying their actual email address, then any email is sent via the web interface which does not reveal the true email address to the user. Wikipedia has never bulk-emailled its users, and we do not intend to start. I've set it to the correct address. --

In matters of church and state of Wikipedia... I am not sure if this is the right place -- but
User:Jesus_Saves! is the kind of POV prostletizing username that makes those of us who are jews, muslims or other intelligent, non-evangelical christians feel all icky and weird in a collaboration-type atmosphere. I have nothing against religious choice and support religious tolerance of all sorts - but using wikipedia for POV expression via articles - or tacitly via usernames is quite offensive to some of us.

Is it possible to have an initial lowercase letter for a username? If so, please make my username "mlei". Otherwise, please change it to "Paradoxian". Thanks, --

I created an account in the idea of it actually preserving my caps [all low] and thinking that I could set a real name; don't know why I thought it, but I can't. I'd like it if my user name were changed from towo to "Tobias Wolter". Thanks in advance. :) --

Can I have the name Billy? My current name might look like I'm not logged in.

No, sorry, Billy is already taken. --

I have created an account in the English Wikipedia with the Usersame "EmRick". Could "EmRick" be changed to "wpZurp" (and have my User_Contributions transferred over also)? (Or change to "WpZurp" if the first letter has to be capitalized.) I want to change my name because I want something unique (for when I do google searches). However, I discovered that "Emrick" is a fairly common surname. I should be safe with "wpZurp". Plus, I like how the "wp" emphasizes my submission to Wikipedia; long live Wikipedia!

This is the right place, but at Wikipedia, decisions of this nature generally take a long time to make. In the meantime, please keep the discussion at

user:666, who goes under the names
user:Administrator and
user:Vfd. I personally am okay with 666, I know other wouldn't. But, I personally am thoroughly against "Administrator" and "Vfd", which are completely ridiculous. No one should ever have these usernames. --

Would you please change my name from Rick K. to Wikiweezer, also if you would delete my other names to save space, Yammy Yamathorn, Strenuous Manflurry, StevenSaladshooter, and Jickonelle Rockfarta. I am Giveing up Trolling and joining the team. I would also like to keep my watchlist from rick k. Thank you---

Well, it wasn't as I asked here.. at least I think I looked if the name was already taken or not. Is there a possibility to see when a user registered? (Not that it would really matter now, I'm just curious.. the user hasn't done anything yet.) --

The account was registered in 2003. You can tell whether an account is registered or not from the user page. If there is a User contributions-link, the account is registered, if not, it's still free. An account can be registered without having done any edits. --

Could I change my username from the old "Hypernovean", which I chose largely without thinking (being my old standard handle online), to "TPK", which I have already started signing as (using the 'real name' attribution preference). Thanks.

The username I'd like to have is the all-lowercase cesarb which I use everywhere, but since it's not possible (and I didn't know it when I registered), I'd like to have it changed to CesarB (since it's a contraction of Cesar Barros). The current username of Cesarb feels strange to me.

October 2004
Kate took a special interest in this page in October.
I have already made the mistake of creating a new username. My first account is
User:Jloisel and the new one I want to use is
User:Jerome Loisel. If that is possible, I would like to see the history merged into the new account and the old account deleted. Or something like that. Thank you, and sorry about the problems. (
Jloisel 20:10, 28 Jul 2004 (UTC))
User enquiry pending.

Edit from old account to prove who I am. If you do go through with this, by the way, please make sure my new changes history isn't deleted in the process. I would like to have the old data back, but the new data seems more important at this point. Thanks a bunch. {

Edit from new account to prove I own both of them. (
