- Oppose - Tahitian is just one of the many islands that make up French Polynesia, so blanketing it under something like Category:People of Tahitian descent is misguiding. - Clarification There is no proposal to "blanket it under something like Category:People of Tahitian descent". The Tahitian reference was just a passing observation that Tahitian at least, would have a better legitimate claim to a demonym as it is a distinct island, and, arguably, a nation. The same argument could be made for Category:People from Raiatea. It cannot, however, be made for a collection of random islands whose only common link is that they were colonised by France. - It is unclear to me how containerization solves the issue at stake. The subcategories suffer from the same problem, that is, if it is a problem at all.

- Clarification There is no proposal to "blanket it under something like Category:People of Tahitian descent". The Tahitian reference was just a passing observation that Tahitian at least, would have a better legitimate claim to a demonym as it is a distinct island, and, arguably, a nation. The same argument could be made for Category:People from Raiatea. It cannot, however, be made for a collection of random islands whose only common link is that they were colonised by France.
