Nominator's rationale: merge per
WP:SMALLCAT, most year categories contain only one or two articles. A decade level is more appropriate, like with the Byzantine Empire and the Holy Roman Empire in the Middle Ages. (signed a day later

Generally support -- We actually have two kinds in category contents here: (1) 1xxx in France and (2) an article on an event of foundation. Care is needed to ensure that the French character of the latter is not lost.

Support all The point at which "by year" categories could commence is the Modern era (usually taken to follow the
Fall of Constantinople) but for convenience, 1500 may be used.

Merge to Kingdom of France - to match contemporary
Kingdom of France; note that
France article is focusing on the modern Republic of France.

Not at all, the history section of the article discusses the entire history of France since prehistory.

Nominator's rationale: No clear definition and the article creator has added articles for which it seems completely inappropriate. I'm going to ping another Admin,
User:UsGraham87 who has some experience with this editor. At the moment I've left the articles in this category although I don't think they belong.

Support as
WP:OVERCATEGORIZATION, although I would dispute the "largely Canadian" claim - Canada won just one medal at the last Winter Olympics, both Sweden and Switzerland won two.
