Wikimedia Commons hosts the images you see all over Wikipedia articles. All sorts of media files are available on the Commons, and not all of them are used in Wikipedia articles (the policy simply states that media files must have a "realistic" educational use, including use on Wikipedia, to be hosted). However, if you look closely, you might find that certain types of images are missing or of poor quality. This can be due to copyright; the only (or only good) image/video of the subject might not be available under acceptable copyright terms.
You can help Wikimedia Commons by uploading photos, but you must always be mindful of copyright issues.
