An introduction to the art and architecture of the Aztecs, who controlled much of Mexico from 1480-1520. We will focus on the iconography and meaning of artworks, as well as the differences between the work of archeologists and art historians.

You'll want to find or create an appropriate photo, illustration, or piece of video/audio to add to an article.
Review the discussion of human sacrifice in of the following entries: "Human Sacrifice in Aztec culture," "Aztec Religion," "Human Sacrifice," and add either a new source, or a justified edit to the existing text. You may also edit the illustrations.
On Wikimedia Commons, search "Aztec Art." Add appropriate captions to any of the pieces at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and add to structured data. Also look at "Media in category 'Aztec Art'" to identify any of the works that are familiar to you.
Upload an image of your sculpture, with metadata, to Wikimedia Commons. Post annotations of sculpture to your sandbox
Post annotation of sculpture on your sandbox
Copy and paste section " Aztec sculpture" in the Aztecs page to your sandbox; revise and edit.
Review and revise the text on "Aztec Sculpture" in sandbox of barbara.e.mundy. You may wish to copy it into your own sandbox to work on it. Our goal is to create an essay on Aztec Sculpture that can serve as a stand-alone Wikipedia article.
Finish group edit of "Aztec Sculpture" to be submitted to Wikipedia editors.
Move "Aztec Sculpture" online in class, 11/4
Design your annotated sculpture for Wikimedia Commons. Copy relevant parts of associated text to sandbox, and begin editing.
Work with Ms. Fostano on standarizing annotations and image metadata for sculpture project.
Presentation of sculpture projects in class
Sculpture projects uploaded by 12/5 for review in preparation for final exam
