Dwaipayan, the baton's yours. I chanced upon this information while searching for a song of recent repute(this was going to be my next hint)
A quick one. Although she is not Indian, her name has several parts that are Indian (more specifically Hindu) names. She acted in a (non-Indian) movie that portrays a particular Indian city in a very intimate way, perhaps in an equal or better (subjective) way than how Kahaani portrayed Kolkata. What is the name of the actor, and the film?-- Dwaipayan ( talk) 04:28, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
This has to be correct ! DebashisM Talk 17:51, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

He was the first Indian to perform something. This "something" was a taboo in the society at that time. The British government celebrated the occasion with gun salutes. Who is this person? (if the question is not adequate, or, does point to more than one person based on the given criteria, I would provide further clues later).-- Dwaipayan ( talk) 13:41, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Yes. E. M. S. Namboodiripad. The first chief-minister of a state in India, from a non-congress party, also the first communist leader of a democratically elected government.
