I looked at centuries in each innings, number of centuries away from home, centuries as captain, centuries from different batting positions, unbeaten centuries, and I'm just not making the numbers add up. It isn't anything to do with top score, because both Kallis and Stewart have never scored double centuries, while Dravid and Hayden both have. Stewart was never out lbw after a century, but Kallis only was lbw twice. It isn't centuries without sixes, because Stewart hit one six in his 173 against New Zealand. And it isn't being the only centurion in the match, because Stewart has at least once. I have no idea what I should check now. Jenigmat429 ( talk) 16:24, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Sorry to disappoint, but it does have something to do with top scores. Try looking back at Alec Stewart and see if you see anything about all his centuries. I do hope I haven't screwed up with my question! -- Roberry ( talk) 18:50, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
The first thing that came to mind was breaking his own top score, but Alec Stewart has done this twice after reaching triple digits for the first time, with his 148 and 190. Alec Stewart has hit at least one century in all four innings in Tests, and his batting position can't be related to it. All four of those batsmen have hit a fifty in the same match as a century. Jenigmat429 ( talk) 02:53, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Try looking at the scorecards of Alec Stewart's centuries and it should become clear what I am looking for. Maybe I should reword the question - What did Alec Stewart manage to do every time he scored a century, but Jacques Kallis failed to do on 13 occasions -- Roberry ( talk) 15:37, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Every time Alec Stewart scored a Test century, he was also the top scorer in the innings. On 13 occasions, Jacques Kallis scored a century, but was outscored by someone else in the same innings (on two occasions, by two people). I haven't checked Dravid and Hayden, but the event is presumably 'scoring a Test century, but not top-scoring in the innings'.-- AllylViolinPudding ( talk) 17:14, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
That's the one - Alec Stewart did top score each time he scored a century although he tied with Mark Butcher on one occasion. Darryl Cullinan is the only other player to do this and score more than 10 centuries. The next question is yours -- Roberry ( talk) 17:58, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Aaargh. I've just spent an hour on the new Statsguru researching a question, then Googled my answer to see if someone had thought of it before. Sure enough, it's already been asked several hundred questions ago on this quiz! The new question's related to it, though...
Which ODI record is held by Steve Waugh, followed by Carl Hooper, then Malcolm Marshall? The 'inverse' of this record was formerly held by Shaukat Dukanwala, although was broken earlier this year (I fear I would spoil the question by saying by which player - if people struggle [which they probably won't] then I'll name him)-- AllylViolinPudding ( talk) 23:18, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
I remember that Shaukat Dukanwala used to be the oldest person to win a World Cup Man-of-the-Match Award, so could it be that Steve Waugh was the youngest person to win a World Cup MoM? I think it's either that or youngest ODI MoM. Jenigmat429 ( talk) 01:27, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Most number of wickets in career without a five-wicket haul. The inverse is least number of wickets with a five-wicket haul and Doug Bollinger holds this at present. Wikimaze ( talk) 08:31, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

I was going to ask virtually the same question for Tests, but found that Q803 had already done it, and the inverse ( Mike Hendrick) had been covered in an 'Ask Bearders' column from a few years ago. I didn't know about Dukanwala's oldest MoM award (for his 5-29 in his final match, bringing his career wickets to 6). An accidental red herring, I suppose. And, of course, Dukanwala will almost certainly reclaim his bowling record as long as Bollinger's around! Currently JL Langer’s highest score against Lancashire is 76, whilst SG Law’s highest score against Essex is 80 [19]which will enable them to potentially join this ‘club’ here [20]. SG Law’s shift to Derbyshire in 2009 has given him this opportunity as he hasn’t played against Essex since September 2005 as they have been in different divisions to his previous county side, Lancashire due to the Promotion/Relegation of system of the Championship. My first question here, so early apologies for any mistakes. Only five cricketers who have played first class cricket for Bengal / West Bengal have captained India in international matches. Name them all. -

Jhulan Goswami is currently the Indian captain, so she has achieved the feat. Ovshake ( talk) 01:16, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
My bad, should have specified, I am not considering under 19s, only full internationals. - Godof86 ( talk)
There is a SIXTH person? Someone who has led India in Men's or Women's Tests, ODIs, T20Is? Ovshake ( talk) 05:02, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Syed Karim&
Manoj Tiwary are the 5 whom have captained. I'm feeling a bit ripped off here! —

Well, I was not considering youth matches, only full internationals. So Vinoo Mankad, Pankaj Roy, Sourav Ganguly, Jhulan Goswami and Rumeli Dhar is correct. Although, Wattmaster, you do correctly mention that I did not specify that youth matches will not be considered. And yes, there is a sixth full international captain of India as well.-

To add to the confusion, I might add that the women's teams is called India Women (liekwise Australia Women etc), and the kids are called India Under-19s (likewise the other countries). Ovshake ( talk) 06:18, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and before we slip... can we have some hint about the sixth player? Ovshake ( talk) 06:21, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Based on the ambiguity of the question -I go with Ovshake ,split points(since the quiz master expected the womens cricketer names) and award rights to Wattmaster who got there first.I think that is the fair decision.Wattmaster please ask the next question . Did he lead India for a COMPLETE match? I'm really confused regarding this one. I can see that it's a HE... Ovshake ( talk) 01:44, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Wild guess, this one, as well: qualifying to play for Champions league for three different teams? Dirk Nannes and David Warner and Cameron White... Ovshake ( talk) 01:26, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Century in their respective upcoming September 9th and 23rd County games to achieve a‘full-house’ of centuries against all counties. All be it a slim chance of happening as he’s been primarily selected for List-A matches this year by Derbyshire. Over to you Sumant81 — Wattmaster ( talk) 08:07, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
