Wiki-Gangs of New York was a civic editathon, Wikipedian meet-up and instructional workshop that was held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the New York Public Library Main Branch.
The lofty goal was to improve Wikipedia articles and content related to the neighborhoods and history of New York City.
Wiki-Gangs of New York at the NYPL website.
As in other events of this type, you were advised to please bring a laptop if you have one; if not, several loaner laptops were also available :)
We also took walked together to a wiki-social lunch at Kati Roll Company, and a wiki-social dinner afterward.
The goal is to improve Wikipedia articles and content related to the neighborhoods and history of New York City.
More broadly, all NYC and local topics of your interest will be a great addition; today, your geekery is our geekery.
New York city "stubs" (small articles that need your help!):
New York City lists that include red links (missing articles):
Also, we need more New York City articles in this category, to better cover our global city:
We'll also be looking at increasing some of the hyperlocal wiki resources at NYCwiki.org
