WP:DUCK based on the username and edit pattern. Looks like he/she just went on with his/her disruptive edits through a new account, eh? Blake Gripling ( talk) 02:50, 8 August 2016 (UTC) reply

The users above has identical editing habits, mostly editing in X in the Philippines articles. The suspected sock-puppeteer has been blocked indefinitely, while Yaysmay15 has been blocked by making edits against consensus by making "X in the Philippines" articles a summary of nationally-covered events, whether routine or non-notable (in violation of WP:NOTNEWS, WP:ROUTINE and WP:NOTABLE) and refused to comment, explain their edits either through talk pages or edit summaries. TagaSanPedroAko has filed a AN3 for editwarring and they seem to have been blocked for 48 hours (at the time of this post, the case has not yet been formally closed). Then a new account by the name of Yays Falcunitin began doing identical edits, most possibly to evade a block. I wanted to assume good faith to Yaysmay 15 but the user name alone of the newest account, Yays Falcunitin gives a red flag.

Some diffs. 2016 in the Philippines [1]-Yays Falcunitin [2]-Yaysmay15

Template:Benigno Aquino III [3]-Yaysmay15 [4]-Vince daryl falcunitin

Here Yaysmay15 continues to add non-notable events not related to Aquino's presidency, such as an incident where Vhong Navarro, a local celebrity getting mugged (which is nationally-covered, but still not related to Aquino's presidency or notable enough) similar to Vince daryl's edits. @ Ivanvector: I performed the block and protects before I saw this. I don't think I can apply PC to stop socking. I recall reading that usage was not approved (and it's not in policy or a Twinkle option). -- NeilN talk to me 04:40, 27 September 2016 (UTC) reply
@ NeilN: thanks for your note. I was under the impression that use of PC was acceptable for sockpuppetry on frequently-edited or highly visible pages as an alternative to semiprotection so that good-faith new/unconfirmed users can still edit. I'm sure that I've come across that as a reason in the reviewing logs, there are a lot of timeline and list-of-dates pages which are PC-protected. But you're right about this use not being mentioned on the policy page, so I may be mistaken, or it may have changed since I was last involved in discussions about PC. At any rate I don't recommend semiprotection for these articles due to collateral damage, so this case is closed. Ivanvector ( Talk/ Edits) 16:45, 27 September 2016 (UTC) reply

He added another stray bullet death in 2017 in the Philippines, which is not notable and WP:NOTNEWS and the procession on the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Manila, which is WP:ROUTINE as an annual event, and after being removed by consensus, he adds them back. Duck IP of Yaysmay15. Same habit as the sock master, and targets 2017 in the Philippines, and also, in other articles. PatTag2659 reverted the IP's edits, but keeps on re-adding it for the second time, and if the IP reverts PatTag2659's removal of non-notable events for the third time, it is breaching 3RR. A half-year (6 month) semi-protection may be placed on 2017 in the Philippines, plus reverting of his edits after the page protection is added. Looking a little deeper and at the archive, the range is 112.198.64.0/18, and they've been disruptively editing Timeline of Philippine history pretty much non-stop since September. However, as before, this is a very active range and there is too much collateral damage to range-block. Several of their favourite pages are already semiprotected, and I am semi-protecting Timeline of Philippine history for 3 months.

  • I've blocked 58.71.120.251 for 60 hours - the IP appears to be rapidly dynamic but its most recent edits over a couple days are clearly the LTA. It's been a while since I've looked at this case but as I recall they only edit the timeline articles; the events and "list of programs broadcast by" articles are new behaviour to me, unless I've just been out of the loop. As it stands I think the other IPs were the LTA back in October but have been reassigned to some other user, and as such I have taken no action on those.
As for protecting the articles, precedent elsewhere suggests that any date-based lists subject to vandalism do well with pending changes enabled. I'm going to go ahead and enable this for all of the "<year> in the Phillipines" articles Yaysmay15 has been hitting today. For others I suggest making a report at WP:RFPP referring to this investigation page (or refer to the diff of this edit), or if you want to put in the work one of you could compile a list of frequent targets and make a proposal at WP:AN to enable pending changes for all of them. I would support it if the list is reasonably concise, but such a mass action should be presented for community approval. Sorry for the long closing note.

Looking a little deeper and at the archive, the range is 112.198.64.0/18, and they've been disruptively editing Timeline of Philippine history pretty much non-stop since September. However, as before, this is a very active range and there is too much collateral damage to range-block.
