Suspected sockpuppets

I first stumbled upon this while doing RCP. Ssmdoc (most recent active suspected sock) made an edit flagged by ORES which I reverted. After posting a notice template on their userpage, I noticed a previous bot-posted notice about Sir Salimullah Medical College, which struck me due to their username, which seemed linked. Going back through the SSMC page history I discovered user Ssmcmitford, which had been indeffed for promotion by 331dot on October 14. Following this, Fahadkabir, a user created on October 26, began editing on November 2 in much the same style using the same method of editing as Ssmcmitford, the android app. On November 27, between Fahadkabir's edits by a couple of hours, ওমর মিথুন (Bengali tl:Omar Gemini) edited the page, same manner, same method. On December 6, the IP, which is from Bangladesh, edited in the same manner, most likely Fahadkabir editing while logged out. Fahadkabir continued to edit the page until December 8, when the user was warned by Materialscientist for unexplained content removal. The same day, Ssmdoc was created, beginning to edit the page on the following day. in again the same manner, same method. Almost all the edits appeared promotional and weren't cited (most of them) or cited primary sources, Don't worry, I cleaned it up . ~Gwennie🐈💬  📋12:55, 28 December 2020 (UTC) reply

Note I have also reported the user on the Commons, as the pictures they upload there are non-free or scraped from facebook pages and have severe copyright issues thusly. ~Gwennie🐈💬  📋01:16, 29 December 2020 (UTC) reply

  •  Clerk note: My impressions:
    • All of these accounts are using the Android mobile app and really like using "fixed typo" as an edit summary, though I have yet to see any of their edits actually fix a typo.
    • Ssmdoc and Fahadkabir are either sock or meat based on their overlap at Armed Forces Medical College (Bangladesh)
    • Based on their edits at Sir Salimullah Medical College, particularly Special:Diff/990392760 and Special:Diff/983433798, I think Ssmcmitford and Fahadkabir are also related in some way.
    • I don't believe ওমর মিথুন is part of this group - their edit summaries are styled differently and they added some people to "notable alumni" that other members of this group later removed.
    • No opinion on the IP; it hasn't edited in several weeks so there's no point in taking action.
  • I've  Blocked and tagged all as suspected, don't think CU is needed here; my guess is that this is meatpuppetry (several people puffing up these colleges' articles, possibly students or faculty), with one or more of the socks probably the previously-blocked Ssmcmitford. I've semi'd SSMC for a couple months as well. Well done, User:Gwennie-nyan. GeneralNotability ( talk) 02:55, 29 December 2020 (UTC) reply

  • CheckUser requested and endorsed by clerk - Considering the overlap and that the account was created about 90 minutes after ওমর মিথুন was blocked, likely to be a sock, but unlike all the previous accounts, Rayhantanvirbd doesn't use the android app, so CU confirmation would be helpful. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:53, 4 January 2021 (UTC) reply
  •  Clerk note: Um, not clear WTF I was looking at. Yes, they do use the android app. Blocking, tagging, closing. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:58, 4 January 2021 (UTC) reply

Aphahahavi recently Android mobile edits in target pages similar to the sock pattern. Aphahahavi was a sockcreated by Ktp1001 on Oct 22 2020. (Ktpl1001, the oldest account (even predating Ssmcmitford) it may be a sleeper or original sockmaster.) Ktpl had a history of promotional editing but it seems to have moved that to their sock. Also considering the overlap,  It looks like a duck to me. ~Gwennie🐈💬  📋16:06, 29 January 2021 (UTC) reply
