Suspected sockpuppets


Markdabeast1, Epitren1, Trenepi2, and Holonismen are all obviously socks per WP:DUCK. These 4 accounts have been trying to promote a bodybuilder with the nickname Markdabeast1. I have already blocked them. However, these 4 have an overlapping interest in another bodybuilder named Ryan Hintze (see deleted article Ryan hintze). The fifth account, Overlyme, a declared paid editor, has created a draft article for the same person at Draft:Ryan Hintze. This makes me think that the 4 blocked accounts are also the same person and/or PR company as the declared paid editor, but I'm not certain enough to block the account without a checkuser confirming this connection. Also, I think it would be worthwhile to look for any other potential accounts - based on experience, paid editors (even when declared) often abusively operate multiple accounts to hide their activity. -- Ed ( Edgar181) 14:12, 5 October 2018 (UTC) reply

  • For the record I'll note here that the text from deleted contributions of one of the additional socks you turned up, Trenepi1, matches word-for-word the text that Overlyme used to create Draft:Ryan Hintze. So there is clearly at least meatpuppetry involving Overlyme and the confirmed socks. Regards, -- Ed ( Edgar181)

Suspected sockpuppets

Pretty sure this is a WP:DUCK case: these three accounts are adding and re-adding citations linking to a site called WikiFamous which is not a reliable source. When undone, they continue to re-add the links as citations. When warned, they continue to re-add the links as citations. I'd like to shortcut the whole "get each account to uw-4 and block" slow-motion stuff and just get them bounced out of here. Evidence is in their respective contributions, which all add similar links to similar articles. Also, if someone more experienced than me can point me at where I get 'wikifamous .com' in someway blocked as a site we link to in citations, please drop me a line on my talk page! ◦ Trey Maturin 18:22, 7 February 2019 (UTC) reply

I put a afd for Mark White (media personality) which one of them quickly said was a notable person. I then realized that there was a similar aritcle as well as looking at the log for one user on there talk page that there is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark White (model)

Marikneed530's first edits are to Sommer Ray created by Sam Wrangler ( talk + · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser( log) · investigate · cuwiki) a confirmed sock of Williams taylor. M530 then gamed WP:ACPERM to promote his own draft bio of a non-notable model to mainspace at Jules Liesl. M530 has since undertaken AFC review, CSD, and SPI. Changing the content of Mark White (soccer) to promotion of the model, just like earlier socks have done. His nickname now appears to be Markfitbeast, not Markdabeast1, but the photo added by the IP today was uploaded to Commons by blocked sock Ottobat75, and the DOB/birth place combo added here is identical to this sock vandalism from January. bonadea contributions talk 08:34, 18 May 2019 (UTC) reply

Apparently long running case of promotional editing. In this diff and on their talk page, Elizabethg507 confirms the connection with markdabeast1. The new user created Draft:Mark White Jr aka "markdabeast" apparently before making any disclosures and after being altered about a possible COI. Suspected sockpuppets


Markdabeast1, Epitren1, Trenepi2, and Holonismen are all obviously socks per WP:DUCK. These 4 accounts have been trying to promote a bodybuilder with the nickname Markdabeast1. I have already blocked them. However, these 4 have an overlapping interest in another bodybuilder named Ryan Hintze (see deleted article Ryan hintze). This makes me think that the 4 blocked accounts are also the same person and/or PR company as the declared paid editor, but I'm not certain enough to block the account without a checkuser confirming this connection. Pretty sure this is a WP:DUCK case: these three accounts are adding and re-adding citations linking to a site called WikiFamous which is not a reliable source. When undone, they continue to re-add the links as citations. When warned, they continue to re-add the links as citations.
