Suspected sockpuppets


Recently I came across Draft:Grand Hotel Imperial when reviewing new articles and noticed that the article — which was created by a brand-new editor — was an exact translation of an article on the de.Wiki. Looking into this further, I found the de.wiki article was created and edited by Luuuuuka, an editor I have had a previous interaction with after they were paid (which they initially failed to disclose) to copy their client's articles from the German Wiki onto the English Wiki. However, it seems Luuuuuka was recently banned by the de community for sockpuppetry, and so I suspect they may be resorting to socking here on the English Wikipedia. Requesting checkuser, and I will note for the check that the company Luuuuka was affiliated with edits from the Baden-Munich region in Southern Germany. I suspect this is likely a ring with multiple people rather than one person, but the technical details exist to connect accounts here.

Kubibabu ( talk + · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser( log) · investigate · cuwiki) shares a range and UA with the Luuuuuka socks, but  Behavioural evidence needs evaluation on this one. Suspected sockpuppets

This will have to be done behaviorally, by listening to the quacking. This account has submitted, as a draft, the same biography of DJ Katch as has been cut down to a redirect more than once. See the history of the redirect at DJ Katch, which shows that the redirect was expanded to an article by paid editors later blocked as sockpuppets.

This submitter is a new account who, unlike previous socks, has made the declaration of paid editing, but is still a paid editor. The CheckUser data is stale, but this is from the same duck pond. Robert McClenon ( talk) 14:55, 11 June 2021 (UTC) reply

  • Their draft is identical to past versions of DJ Katch, but you didn't need me to tell you that - anybody could have grabbed the old page source and turned it into a draft. There's basically no behavioral evidence available. At this point, I'm going to leave them be since they declared their COI, but I'll keep an eye on them - if any other articles associated with this sockfarm come up, it'll be hammertime.
