Suspected sockpuppets

Three accounts working as a close tag-team on the same small number of articles; extremely similar behaviour and same use of broken English. See Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement#Lidaz for current report on disruptive editing. Fut.Perf. 08:19, 30 August 2015 (UTC) reply

On uk-wp, uk:User:Paulvh5 was created when uk:User:Lidaz was briefly blocked in February 2015, and was immediately recognized and indef-blocked as a sock [1] [2]

Inserting or reinserting the same broken English:

  • Paulvh5 [3] (became political prisoners was of Yanukovych regime)
  • Paulvh5 [4] (During the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych against leader Party Yulia Tymoshenko opened several criminal cases... Danish Helsinki Committee, observing the trial, came to the conclusion that his political motivation, and gross violations of the European Convention on Human Rights.)
  • Lidaz [5] (August 5 2011 to February 22 2014 was a political prisoner Viktor Yanukovych regime)
  • Jan777 [6]

Tag-team reverting of same material:

Same habit of unexplained blanket reverts of harmless copyedits, reinserting broken English

Same habit of pointing to Russan and Ukrainian wikis

  • Jan777: [14] (This information is available in Ukrainian Wikipedia) [15] (This information is available in Ukrainian, Russian Wikipedia)
  • Lidaz: [16] (Information is correct and is similar to the Wikipedia in Ukrainian and Russian languages), [17] (And see Ukrainian and Russian, French Wikipedia, there is the same information)

rose to carry on the revert-war crusade at Yulia Tymoshenko. User:TaivoLinguist undid it, I blocked the IP a week. So there's at least more than one IP at work here. Waiting to see if more IPs or accounts pop up before rangeblock. DMacks ( talk) 19:47, 30 August 2015 (UTC) reply

  • The three accounts are  Confirmed. I blocked one (FPS blocked the other two while I was running the CU) and tagged all. Closing.-- Bbb23 ( talk) 15:50, 30 August 2015 (UTC) reply

Hi! Contribution of user Nikitarey clearly looks to me like political promotion of certain political party and person ( Batkivshchyna, Yulia Tymoshenko), which very much reminds me of contribution of globally locked Jan777 and theirs socks. Clearly the same style of writing and etc ( [18], Old revision of Batkivshchyna) to the point I would say that it looks like duck test but anyway it would be good for CU to look firstly.-- Renvoy ( talk) 10:19, 20 March 2022 (UTC) Renvoy ( talk) 10:19, 20 March 2022 (UTC) reply

  • The master and most of the socks are stale here on enwiki, but I see that the master was globally locked for cross-wiki abuse in December 21, and that Milania19 (another account that shows up in the recent history of Batkivshchyna) was locked in January. There's not a lot of activity for me to go on here, but I will approach the steward who performed the global locks and ask whether they would be able to take a look. • @ Girth Summit: Working through the oldest cases right now; any update on this one? -- Tamzin cetacean needed (she/they) 01:29, 23 April 2022 (UTC) reply
I'm afraid not - Tks4Fish never got back to my enquiry (they haven't edited here or on meta for a few weeks). I've looked again at their IP history, and I'm not seeing any evidence of current use of multiple accounts on this project - there aren't any other accounts that look like them on any of the IP ranges they've used. I don't think that enough behavioural evidence has been presented to make a connection based on that alone; my inclination would be to close this without action, but if you want to take a look at the editing you might see something I've missed. Also pinging TheresNoTime, who queried a global lock request concerning this editor on meta - just FYI really. Girth Summit (blether) 10:58, 23 April 2022 (UTC) reply
I'm vacating the cuhold status based on the comments above. Tamzin, if you want to look at it behaviourally, feel free, otherwise I guess this can be closed without action. Best Girth Summit (blether) 07:20, 25 April 2022 (UTC) reply
  • The general behavior looks similar, but not similar enough to block on, especially as political topic areas tend to attract similar behavior. no Closing without action but without prejudice against a re-file based on a more detailed behavioral analysis. -- Tamzin cetacean needed (she/they) 07:33, 25 April 2022 (UTC) reply
