Suspected sockpuppets

The concern here is mainly that the user is attempting to get around WP:COI requirements. First Burnj396 had created a page about a business created by a man of the same name as his username.

The page as it was before reviewing began [ here]. The page was rejected as it seemed to be self-promotion. Rejection edit [ here].

Approximately 15 minutes after the draft was rejected the user TheWilliamGibson was created. See the [ user logs for that account]. That user then deleted 2 references to Burns, and then deleted the comment. See the [ difference] between those edits. The comment was restored by another uninvolved user a few moments later. After that, the user erased the final mention of Burns from the article, ([ edit difference here]).

That user then moved over to Teahouse, a link to which was placed on the Burnj396 talk page when the article was rejected. A new user, especially one only created in the last hour, is not likely to know about Teahouse. On Teahouse, TheWilliamGibson then stated that they were "unsure why my submission is being rejected". See their comment on Teahouse [ here]. The submission is not possibly theirs, as it was rejected 15 minutes before TheWilliamGibson was created, unless they are referencing work they did on another account.

It seems very likely to me that these two accounts are by the same person, one being created as a pseudonym in order to avoid the COI requirements of Wikipedia and get the article published. aaronneallucas ( talk) 02:34, 19 May 2023 (UTC) reply
