Suspected sockpuppets

Aside from the obvious similarities in user names, AlexGeorge has continued to add the same unsourced content to FC Steaua București that was part of the reason for AlexGerrard's last block. Diff 1, Diff 2 Sir Sputnik ( talk) 16:36, 4 September 2015 (UTC) reply

The username alone makes it obvious that this is the same person, add to that the fact that their edits are all in the same niche subject area, Romanian football, and we've got a fairly obvious case of WP:DUCK. Sir Sputnik ( talk) 17:26, 20 October 2015 (UTC) reply

This editor has almost exclusively edited pages which were also heavily edited by previous socks ( Unirea Ion Roată, FC Unirea Urziceni, and Marius Alexe). They have also reintroduced the unsourced material to Marius Alexe that got AlexGerrard blocked in the first place. (Compare this to this) Sir Sputnik ( talk) 15:39, 14 December 2016 (UTC) reply

@ KrakatoaKatie: Did you check against Ian Rush-Gerrard ( talk · contribs) and Ialomița Romania Editor ( talk · contribs)? The accounts are not listed in the case archive so you may have missed them. The former may not be a confirmed sock, but the account's behaviour is obvious enough that it might as well be. Both accounts are more recent than the ones listed in the archive so they're less likely to be stale. Sir Sputnik ( talk) 19:10, 14 December 2016 (UTC) reply
@ Sir Sputnik: CheckUser can only look back 90 days. I just don't have anything to compare it to. :-( Behavior will have to decide this one. Katie talk 20:11, 14 December 2016 (UTC) reply

Okay then let me explain in a little more detail, since some of this may not be immediately obvious. What links these two is overlapping interest in football in the Ialomița region of Romania, and more specifically in the club Unirea Ion Roată. I think this alone is reason conclude that this is the same person. Ion Roată is a village of less than 4000 people. AlexGerrard may even from there (see this). Its football club plays in the fourth division of Romanian football. It seems unlikely to me that there would be a second editor interested in the same obscure football club, who also makes the same unsourced edit that got AlexGerrard blocked in the first place (see diffs above). • no Declined Master and archive are stale. Katie talk 18:39, 14 December 2016 (UTC) reply
  • Closing with no action. I'm not seeing a significant enough link to block on behavioral evidence alone, so far. The one similar edit is suspicious, but the edits on the other pages in the topic area are very different. I don't see the same broken English as the master's other socks either, so there are some behavioral differences giving me pause here. If they disruptively add unsourced material, it might be best just to warn and report to WP:AIV as normal. If substantial behavioral similarities pop up in the future, another report could be filed here. ~ Rob13 Talk 09:10, 1 January 2017 (UTC) reply
