Suspected sockpuppets

1. AceD registered on 5 February 2006, made one post, then was silent for over five years.

2. Not until 9 August 2011 did AceD make 8 minor posts before immediately engaging an edit war and reverting legitimate edits by the undersigned. Since then, he has continued posting exclusively one article, reverting no less than 11 times out of his 23 postings on this article. Many of the non-undo postings were also reverts.

3. The day before AceD began reverting this article, 71.226.23.207, who was previously engaging in an edit war on the same subject, stopped posting - after being warned. 71.226.23.207 has posted only one additional time since then (by accident, it appears), continuing AceD's discussion.

I submit that AceD and 71.226.23.207 are the same editor - utilized to continue an on-going edit war. I also suspect this is not the first sock puppet utilized by this editor. 71.203.85.14 is another candidate.

AceD admitted on an administrator talk page that he used multiple identities - possibly more than appear in this complaint.

User:AceD also engaged in personal name-calling, calling this editor "biased", a "hypocrite", "whiner", "complainer" and "liar" - multiple times. Whatever happened to civility and good faith? Computer Guy 2 ( talk) 21:41, 25 August 2011 (UTC) reply

The below vitriol being brought to you by an editor who, using more than one IP address (see above), and since at least March, has spent the vast majority of his time on Wikipedia in personal attacks against the undersigned and in reverts of the undersigned's edits. I rest my case. Computer Guy 2 ( talk) 00:30, 26 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Quite clearly, I have not admitted to "multiple identities", which is yet another mendacious comment by an editor who appears to be obsessed with complaining against me (for reference, note his 20 odd entries on the Admin board). I told the administrator that I have registered for an account on the IP I previously utilized, and have never hidden it. The very editor who lodged this complaint was the individual who stated he was done responding to me on a talk page until I registered an account, if you can believe that. Had I wanted to utilize multiple IP's when I was posting before registration, I certainly could have done so. If you have the ability to IP check you will likely see that as AceD I have posted from at least 4-5 different IP's (I am all over with work), so I certainly could have sock puppetted had I chosen to BEFORE I got this account.

Computer Guy 2 has a long history of hostile posting against many different users on multiple pages (see his talk page) yet appears to be a single purpose editor. His content over almost a year almost exclusively deals with ATF or something anxillary to that agency. He has reverted well over 15 different editors during that time period, usually to defend something negative that he has contributed to that article. He has been warned multiple times for 3RR specifically on the ATF page, as well as being instructed not to revise sections of the article in the future by administrators until he has engaged in a consensus building exercise. He has repeatedly ignored these requests and persisted in his activities. His vindictive angst for not having the article reflect his bias and having the article locked for two months is the reason for this outlash. AceD ( talk) 23:18, 25 August 2011 (UTC) reply

  • information Administrator note 71.203.85.14 hasn't edited in months. The other IP has, but I have a feeling it was an accidental edit while logged out. I've warned AceD about logging in, but I do think this is an attempt on Computer Guy 2's part to try to deal with an edit war through alternative means. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 01:51, 26 August 2011 (UTC) reply
