These are all pretty obvious socks. פארוק was banned from English Wikipedia a while ago, but has continued active over at Simple English Wikipedia. The edits made here are on all the same topics as פארוק is editing in Simple English.

The writing style is also pretty distinctive.

  • I'm sorry, but I am not seeing convincing evidence of anything except you have found several editors with similarly bad english. In any event, these accounts are terribly stale and unlikely to edit again. Someguy1221 ( talk) 00:33, 6 April 2013 (UTC) reply

Same pattern and style, including a low proficiency of English. Contributions focus on monuments and memorials in Israel, especially those of Mount Herzl -- matching the master's continuing edits to simplewiki [2]. Identical page moves within hours of each other here on enwiki and here on simplewiki Osiris ( talk) 06:39, 11 July 2013 (UTC) reply

Same concentration on Israeli memorials. Same bad/machine translated English. Essentially the same edits as on Simple English Wikipedia.

Same obsession with Mount Herzl and monuments and memorials in Israel, same lousy English.

Master פארוק (Farouk) was blocked in 2012, but is still active on many other-language Wikipedia sites ( global accounts). They're blocked on about ten other sites, often for adding poor-quality machine-translated content; see User talk:פארוק#Concern regarding new articles and User talk:פארוק#Please stop your editing in other language wikipedia.

Garagarage1979 has also edited on a large number of other Wikipedia sites ( global accounts), and both accounts were created on Hebrew Wikipedia. There's not much crossover on English Wikipedia, but it's obvious from their global contributions, Farouk: [8] and Garagarage1979: [9]. They use the Garagarage1979 account to edit on sites where Farouk has been blocked.

See their edits about " kadaif are Turkish noodles, and are not kanafeh", on 13 October (maybe easiest to look at their global contributions pages, though it doesn't show all their edits). At 12:17–12:36 Garagarage1979 edited Commons [10] and Wikidata [11]. Then between 13:31–13:53, Farouk edited the same Wikidata: [12], and then Commons: [13]. From 14:00–14:08, Farouk added their new "kadaif" commons category to several different Wikipedias: [14], [15], [16], [17], [18], [19], [20]. A few minutes later, between 14:22–14:38, Garagarage1979 did the same thing to articles on Wikipedia sites where Farouk is blocked: English: [21], Esperanto [22], Czech [23], Hebrew [24], etc. In most cases, Farouk had created those articles, and created many nearly-identical articles in November 2017 or earlier, that appear to be machine-translated, see e.g. all the articles that link to File:CAM00479-1.jpg. Garagarage1979 created the same thing at Kadaif noodles: [25].

There are similar crossovers, e.g. with "National Memorial Hall For Israel's Fallen" and "Mount Herzl" 17–27 May 2018, with a large number of edits by Farouk to various other-language Wikipedia sites, and with Garagarage1979 making the same edits to the sites where Farouk is blocked.

The older sock (actually older than the present master) has a similar username to Garagarage1979, שחר1979 (Dawn1979). It was indeffed on Hebrew Wikipedia on 27 January 2010 for making personal attacks [26]. Farouk was created there about three weeks later. Dawn1979 stopped editing here on 7 April 2010, and Farouk began on 3 May, with significant crossover on topics about mastic/gum ice cream. Dawn1979 was reported here in 2013 but not blocked because the evidence was not well-presented, however it was blocked as a sock on Dutch Wikipedia, (apparently with checkuser evidence): [27]. See also the user interaction: [28], and compare for example edits like these: [29], [30], and these saying "look in this link ==>>": [31], [32], [33], [34]; [35], [36]. They have also added machine translations to many other Wikipedia sites, see their global accounts and the complaints about it at: Talk:Mastic (plant resin)#Rough translation and User talk:שחר1979#Automatic translations.
