Zippycup

  • Supporting evidence: This has to do with Zippycup ( talk · contribs), who has more socks than the underwear department at Wal-Mart and says that he's got plenty more where those came from. (There's a link to a list of 40 confirmed socks off his user page - I can't find a checkuser case to do with it, though, so take that as you will.) In this rather considerate post to the Admins' Noticeboard, Kalinindrag announces that it's a sock, and makes some demands and PAs; it also states that if its demands aren't met it's got 700 socks sitting on its school IP. After the block it so richly deserved, Colopso appeared to declare that they will keep their promise; it's blocked, too. Might I suggest that we shake out the sock drawer and block some underlying IPs if possible? Tony Fox (arf!) 18:17, 24 May 2008 (UTC) reply
NB: another editor noted that the socks which popped up at the AN were created on Feb. 8 of this year, if that provides any assistance. Tony Fox (arf!) 19:08, 24 May 2008 (UTC) reply
  • I suggest that the IP editor 86.141.15.129 ( talk · contribs) be observed for a while and considered for a possible future block. It's unclear how he would know about the planned activities of Yoshi525's socks unless he were part of the enterprise. Running whois on the IP did not suggest to me this was a school IP, but others probably can analyze this better. If Zippycup/Yoshi525 were editing through a school IP we might consider blocking it. This possibility is suggested by Kalinindrag's comment If you block that i will use 1 of 700 socks i have sitting on my schools IP. EdJohnston ( talk) 02:46, 26 May 2008 (UTC) reply
  • Okay, so we've got a Feb 4th contingent and a Feb 7th contingent. Might it be worth peeking at the new-account logs for the 5th and 6th as well (and maybe expanding the range, while we're at it) to see what was the extent of this multi-day project? (Just a thought, and easy for me to say since I'm not the one doing the work--though if I could, I would.) Thanks... Gladys J Cortez 16:47, 26 May 2008 (UTC) reply
