Ragusan

  • Code letter:—

User:Ragusan is a constructive editor of the Wikipedia, however administrator User:Slowking Man has indef-blocked him under the suspicions of being User:Moroccan Spaniard's (a throwaway account that vandal-moved numerous pages) sockpuppet. Here on his/her talk page administrator User:Dmcdevit with CheckUser powers confirmed that he was a sockpuppet, but considering the edits of the two, that seems very doubtful. I do not accuse these two admins of bad work or lies, but considering these circumstances, I think that a proper CheckUser request (which wasn't made) should be made. No lack of respect, and cheers! WTF OMG???

<quote>

I've run a thorough CheckUser, as you requested, and found some nteresting results. Moroccan Spaniard ( talk · contribs) is also Spaniard de Morocco ( talk · contribs), Ragusan ( talk · contribs), Celtmist ( talk · contribs), AlfredG ( talk · contribs), Harvatov ( talk · contribs), PANONNIAN ( talk · contribs) (the impostor), Votavra ( talk · contribs), and JeremyQ ( talk · contribs), all of which clearly fit the editing pattern, and a couple of other Coon-related username-blocked accounts. Since it's a static IP, I've blocked it for a month. Dmcdevit· t 22:52, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

I was involved one way or another with most of the users you note above. What I know previously is:

  • Celtmist and Ragusan seem to be legitimate users, but likely sockpuppets of each other. The sockpuppetry, if present, was not ever blatantly abused though but it was odd. There's also Jordovan ( talk · contribs) which shares common interests with Celtmist and Ragusan (topics of Montenegro, Trebinje, Torlaks, Southern Serbia, Republic of Macedonia, Croatia) and is likely a sockpuppet. They all have similar style of writing long contrived sentences and barely readable paragraphs, but Celtmist's English is better than Ragusan's. See this Celtmist's explanation on the situation, which, yeah, we've all seen before but looks plausible. Allegedly, they work for an advertising agency in London; they were only sparsely active recently though.

Well, if all of those are one same person, we're dealing with the most schizophrenic user in the history of Wikipedia. While I certainly trust the CheckUser, it seems plausible that they're using an overly public computer—yes, I know it's a cheap excuse, but I really can't imagine a single person who would do so disparate edits. To complicate the issues further, I'd like to turn your attention to Evlekis ( talk · contribs) as well. His longish user page about himself kind of synthethizes the views of Celtmist/Ragusan/Jordovan as expressed on various contribs and talk pages. But see Talk:Nationality, Talk:Yugoslavs and Talk:Torlakian where Evlekis, Celtmist, Ragusan and Jordovan exchange opinions??? Evlekis's contributions have always been positive though, and in sharp opposition with Arvatov's. What are we dealing with??? Duja 09:17, 22 November 2006 (UTC) reply
I agree, this totally complicates further - I still don't think that there is any direct connection between Ragusan and Moroccan. -- PaxEquilibrium 13:05, 22 November 2006 (UTC) reply
